"Untitled"/"HERE WE GO" Help with Metaphor Meanings

Postby Eminef » Jul 19th, '10, 07:31

A what is this song about? and I'm I'm trying to get the car metaphor in the first verse. -- so you know Rap Genius has the "About Here we go" "On the Recovery bonus track, Eminem re-emphasizes one point that is made consistently throughout the album: BITCHES, STOP GETTING ON OUR NERVES!" I actually never even thought about whether that was correct til today.. When I noticed this line "MC’s get so quiet you can hear, A motherfuckin dog whistle when I walk by" in red, cuz people have submitted different meanings, I thought it was obvious, but I guess not. Well This chick who's like in the top of the points on the leaderboard BethHart ( side note - she become some of twitter folks hero, cuz she totally ripped the people who run the site apart and made them look dumb when they tried to dog Em's lyrics on Renegade and say he lack intelligence) in the Help us decide pop up for the that line she's introduces the idea that the song isn't about him just being misogynistic toward woman

"Joseph and Daniel are basically saying the same thing. Em is using this metaphor to drive home what he said in "On Fire" - "Nobody will fucking test me cause these hoes won't even dare"

It's interesting he choose to use dog whistle in that way, Because that whistle has dual effects, it can describe both Him and other Rappers at the same time. The tone it makes is piercing to a dog (like he has said his tongue is in previous songs), but almost non audible (like other MC's) to humans.

- He's so good other MC's wouldn't dare open their mouths and try to test him.

But were missing the genius behind the song by not pointing out that like 25 to life" This line is our first clue, this whole song is a Double Entendre.. Only possibly a little more cleverly disgusted, as it appears many haven't picked up on it yet. As you explain in the "About" women are also Bitches, sluts, cunts, and whores... But the Girl is Hip Hop Elite/Critics and the Bitches, Cunts, Sluts, Whores are Em competition/other MC's... also note - "run boy" in the third verse. He's answering the elitist who are asking "why he came back" Apparently even after the album came out journalist still didn't understand that this song was answering that question, cuz they are still asking it. But we can point them here now.

It breaks down like this.
"Girl, I think you just might have tried
To pull a motherfuckin’ fast one. I’m mad"

= "I was robbed and now I'm pissed" by that selfish bitch that chews him up and spits him out, or the obvious girl thing

"You just hurt my goddamn feeling
And that was the last one I had"

Same as "took my heart and ran it Straight into the planet, into the dirt, I can no longer stand it"

"Does this look like an arcade, trying to play games?
See this saw blade? See this silhouette
Of a stalker in your walkway? Better cooperate
Or get sauteed and rotisseried while you’re hog-tied

Does it look like he playing games? Best not try him, He'll roast your ass! (or their pic of the girl being hog tied after testing him, both work)

MC’s get so quiet you can hear
A motherfucking dog whistle when I walk by"

Now we discover what this is really about > This is why he's pissed, He shouldn't have been robbed, he's earned his recognition, cause he's better than those bitches, and sluts! He drives home how much better he is, and how full of shit they (MTV) are! That's what he came back for, to prove it and get his respect. Why? As any Rapper with a true love for the art will tell you, it the most important thing there is, It's all they can leave with. -- "A plaque and platinum status is wack if I'm not the baddest, _Eminem "Till I Collapse" so "Here we Go"...

You don't own me = Same as "I'mma take control of this relationship, Command it, and I'mma be the boss of you now, goddammit, And what I mean is that I will no longer let you control me"

--------
Does anyone else think what she's saying is true?

And what the fuck is this a metaphor for

"Colt Seavers on a mule stunting on that ass
Like a fuckin’ Fall Guy! I don’t gas my Mercedes
After midnight, I treat it like a Mogwai
Cause it will turn into a Gremlin and run over kids
Women and men - "Vroom Vroom!" - motor so big
You can fit a midget in his engine"

I get the whole mogwai gremlin thing, but he not being literal of course, and it appears to be about his rhymes and shady''s lack of limits when it comes to who he'll pounce on, but I don't get the "motor so big You can fit a midget in his engine" line at all

If The title of the song is wrong ya may wanna inform everyone on line, Cause that's what everyone has titled it, as It was released Officially without a title. The Chorus samples "You Don't Own Me" by Lesley Gore and repeats the line "Here We Go"..

If that's wrong please correct everyone...

Wrong title of the song. :D

But still, certain metaphors are just there. This song is to make people laugh. Or personally, it inspired me. :)

Just because he repeats a line in the chorus doesn't mean that's the name of the song. Plus the song is called "Untitled" on itunes and his website so I'm pretty sure it's called "Untitled", not "Here We Go".

PS: if you think they wrote "Untitled" because it's a hidden song you're wrong. D12's Devil's Night had a hidden song called "Girls" and on itunes its called...guess what... "Girls" :o

So I'm just curious...you'd rather trust people on the internet who name a song according to a line in a chorus (please don't mention wikipedia) over itunes, which is the biggest online 'music retailer', and EMINEM'S OWN FREAKING WEBSITE?? :facepalm

Actually No he is not ignorant, and the amount of time he spends carefully thinking out his lyrics, as shown in his book "the way I am" is proof he's isn't. And he certainly isn't more ignorant than Jay-z!

Here's what Anthony/ Eminef was talking about.. http://rapgenius.com/posts/Jay-z-eminem ... illed-whom

They were trying to say Nas was wrong, - "Jay’s flow isn’t as great, but a few of his lines show his ability to use metaphor and double-meaning to plumb the depths of language in a way Eminem cannot match."

This is opinion is based on the NOT so deep line about a pocket full of hope. They went on to say, "Jay’s voice doesn’t boom quite as Eminem’s does on this track, but his poetry is more intelligent." ... "Em is usually incapable of employing double meaning: everything he’s ever said has meant exactly what it seemed to mean." The girl in the comments does not run the site she's just a another person who loves rap lyrics, she rips them to pieces in the comments and makes them look like tards

The problem is that the site is becoming very popular, as it allows anyone to help interpret/ decipher the lyrics. The site owner's dish out points to people who submit accurate or close to accurate interpretations.. It's a actually a really great idea, and it has the potential for becoming a Rap lyric encyclopedia. But it will also be able to show the lyrical depth of each Rapper. So to make sure Em gets the respect he deserves a good many of us Em peeps on twitter, have been making sure the slimy dumbing down of his geniuses that Beth busted them doing isn't happening...

I hope I explained that better than anthony...

Everyone knows its called Untitled on the album but, HAVOC -THE PRODUCER stated that the only reason it's called that, was because the decision to use the beat came so late in the game, that the contracts were rushed through without giving the song a name. They didn't mean for the song to be called "Untitled" SHIT STAIN! So fans named it for them! SHIT STAIN! I swear the fuking meaness of some people blows my fuking mind,
