No, when the majority of the population likes your album that is not a good thing

Back then some good albums sold, but now everything popular is horrible, the kids have no musical taste at all.

^ yeah because your opinion = fact
horrible albums may have very successful singles (see Flo-rida & bunch of others pop acts have huge singles but flopped albums) but when it comes to albums people these days are very careful to buy.

Would you rather Eminem come out with a hardcore album where he's just fucking spitting over tight beats but it doesn't sell well because its not mainstream at all or another album with commercial beats and singers on the hooks?

So true. It's sad when Soulja Boy's first album went platinum. Then you have fake artist like Officer Ricky that can sell.

Even though you are not asking me i would rather he had 2 or 3 commercial beats with singers on the hooks as his singles to promote his album a bit but the rest of the album be a hardcore album where he's just fucking spitting over tight beats(His own beats too). :y:

I want to hear a complete song with proper verses, hook.. pure "spitting" tracks are not something I'd like to hear over & over.

See, thats what I'm talking about. Why would you want 2 or 3 commercial beats with singers to promote his album when you could have 2 or 3 more good songs.

@Geno, no :facepalm I'm talking about an actual rap album.

maintream song does not equal bad song, LTWYL is a mainstream song but it's still good, maybe some people are just too cool to like mainstream music :y:

Eminem tried a hardcore album with him just spittin as you say ....... and we got Relapse
no thanx...Recovery isn't even that commercial, it still goes hard
plus catchy hooks are part of what makes rap songs good and replayable, which is why most people listen to music
