its very possible that it happened cuz he was hours away from death and usually near death experiences lead to people seeing/hallucinating dead loved ones or dead friends either welcoming them to the other side or telling them to stay away from the light....or he just said it for symbolism...either way its a powerful depiction of how proof helps him even when hes dead
