The guy is a genius. Not only has he made 4 good solo albums but he also helped John Legend establish himself and Common get back on top again. I bet Jay-Z is thankful too.

He said some years ago that he thinks Snoop is the best emcee ever so I really hope they will make an album together. I'm sure he could do the same to Snoop like he did to Common.

I don't agree 808's and heartbreaks was crap. It was him experimenting even more which I appreciate in these times where it's all about selling a product and making your money. Paranoid is perfect for the night clubs!

Nas revelead a couple of days ago that Kanye wants to make his next album all alone.

As much as I love Dr. Dre I think he should take a look at what Kanye West has been doing for years now and regret that he hasn't released enough solo albums or just full lenght albums for other artists.

And i say that 808's and heartbreaks sucks ass because compared to other 3 albums it's nothing. But I like 4 songs on 808 :y:

I do think Kanye is decent rapper but he's nowhere near the guys you mentioned in my opinion, his main problem for me is his breath control which is just awful sometimes

Saying that, he has one of the strongest hip hop discographies of the past 10 years, and for a producer he is a pretty capable rapper

But, at the end what matters the most is the discography. In terms of rapping he's nothing special but the beats make up for it. And he has greats concepts too.

Oh no, I agree with you :y:
the guy can and has made great albums, I just think people don't rank him up there with the best of all time is because he isn't a very good rapper

BUT as a producer, he has to be considered as one of the greatest of all time in my opinion.
I'd personally rate him in the top 10-15, and seeing as I prefer the actual music to rapping these days, thats a compliment

If you don't look at 808s as a hip hop album (because it isnt one) and take it for what it is, an electropop/snyth pop album, I don't see many problems with it - even though I hate autotune. Honestly that album is going to be appreciated a lot more in 10-15 years than it is now

shit you wouldn't have the likes of Drake or Kid Cudi without that album (I'm not saying thats a good thing, but still)
Oh and Welcome To Heathbreak and Coldest Winter are two of the best pieces of music that 'Ye has ever made

^ Those are two of the four i like from 808's and heartbreaks. Really great songs.

And I'm just not a fan of electropop/synth or whatever Kanye was doing. I just wanna see Kanye go back to hip-hop and make a great album lyrically and musically so he can finally get the recognition he deserves :y:

^ Haha those are two of the only songs i like from that album too :b:
Still I honestly think it will be much more appreciated in the future

Yeah I agree Kanye needs to get back into making rap music, and it looks he will with his next album
RZA, Pete Rock, Primo, Q-Tip, Madlib and Kanye all producing on the same album?!? :o
That shit is gonna be insane!

His next album (not titled Good Ass Job anymore) is gonna be his best, I can sense it. Since the VMA incident he seems more mature and focused on his music. Plus, I heard he's gonna get more lyrical. And the producers you just named are a dream come true for me :worship:

I'm seriously really hyped to hear the rest of the album. This and T.I.'s album are gonna be in the top 5 mainstream albums of 2010 :smoking:

I don't consider any of his solo albums hip hop... maybe The College Dropout but that would be the only one.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing though cus I like all his albums. They just don't have that hip hop feeling.

He kinda has popish vibe to him. But, nevertheless he's still hip-hop.

What makes him hip hop music wise? Most of his beats are composed like pop.

I know he is rapping but no one thinks Rage against the machine is hip hop.

Just because he's rapping it's hip-hop. Plus, his concept and lyrics are hip-hop.
