Recommend me some underground rappers

Postby DrRapid » Jul 30th, '10, 18:18

I've been listening to CunninLynguists and I've realised that I don't have that much Underground Rap at all and I'd quite like to listen to some other rappers who fall in that level of no commercial exposure. Could you recommend me some Underground rappers and their best songs as well as their best album or mixtape. Recommend any since I will most likely not have listened to them before. Rappers such as Tonedeff, Copywrite, MURS and Brother Ali are some which I'm interested in listening to but it can be any other really.

Judging by what you already like, I think you'd like Edan

He writes and produces all his own stuff, I think he even draws his own album art, the guy is easily one of the most talented and creative dudes in the underground

Beauty & The Beat for me is one of the best rap albums of the 2000's, beatwise he samples a lot of Psychedelic music, but it works, and rapping wise the guy is really good

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBnbosEg ... re=related (the transition into Mr Lif verse is epic)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P__LuA0v ... re=related (One of the best beats I've ever heard)

Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

@Unscarred I'm loving that first track by The Problemaddicts

@Solace & dR.dR3 I'm currently checking out Diabolic, "Frontlines" is good and so is "In Common". I'm not feeling DZK so much, I've listened to 3 tracks and none of them were bad though, I just didn't immediately like them either.

@Terry_M I've heard some Hopsin track before, don't remember which one though.

@Ƨteven© & BILI I downloaded Rhyme Asylum's last album but I never got round to listening to it, I'll try as soon as possible even though I was told it wasn't as good as an earlier album they have. That song "Stark Raving Genius" is so god damn descriptive and freaky.

@Robbie G I've heard a lot about Jurassic 5 but I've never checked their music out which I will do.

@KillahBee "Making Planets" is awesome and "Beauty"'s beat is good indeed. That album "Beauty and the Beat" has very high critical acclaim so I'll be looking into that soon.

Thanks, I'd quite like to check R.A. The Rugged Man too, only know that "Uncommon Valor: A Vietnam Story" song.

They have just two albums, one from 2007, and the other is from 2008.

Oh yeah, I've always wanted to check out Atmosphere too :sweating: I have one or two songs with Slug that I liked. AOTP and Aesop Rock too. There are too many though so I have to start from somewhere.

Well which one do you consider the best or that it'll be easier to like from the beginning?
