^ yup

Eminem beats Sevenfold on Canadian charts, remains top for 6th week

California metalheads Avenged Sevenfold made a hair-raising debut on the Canadian album charts, but it wasn't enough to scare off Slim Shady.

The band's new album, "Nightmare," premiered at No. 2 with 14,000 in sales, surpassing the No. 6 debut of their 2007 self-titled effort, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

However, it was Eminem who ruled the top again, remaining at No. 1 for a sixth consecutive week with 24,000 in sales.

The Black Eyed Peas' "E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies)", aided by a cross- Canada tour last week, moved up five positions to No. 3, while Justin Bieber's "My World 2.0" slipped one to No. 4.

Jack Johnson's "To the Sea" was held in check at No. 5, Sheryl Crow's "100 Miles From Memphis" dipped down four notches to No. 6, and Lady Gaga's "The Fame" moved from No. 6 to No. 7.

Rounding out the top 10 was Drake's "Thank Me Later" at No. 8, Sting's "Symphonicities" at No. 9, and Ke$ha's "Animal" at No. 10.

In the U.S., Avenged Sevenfold entered in first, followed by Eminem in second, Rick Ross' "Teflon Don" in third, Justin Bieber in fourth, and Drake in fifth.

Arcade Fire Set To Score First UK Number One Album With 'The Suburbs
According to the midweek charts, Canadian indie giants Arcade Fire look set to notch up their first UK Number One album.

Arcade Fire’s third studio album ‘The Suburbs’, which was released August 2nd, has already beaten the midweek sales figures for reigning Number One album ‘Recovery’ by rapper Eminem.

Arcade Fire are yet to score a Number One. Their 2004 debut album ‘Funeral’ hit Number Thirty-three and their more recent 2007 offering ‘Neon Bible’ just missing out at Number Two in the charts. However, with their new album being hotly anticipated by fans, as well as being warmly received by critics, it looks as though the group are set for celebrating their first Number One on the UK chart when the weekly chart countdown is announced on Sunday.

Arcade Fire recently showcased some of their new tracks during their headline performance at the Osheaga festival in Montreal last weekend. The band plays at New York’s Madison Square Gardens on August 5th where fans unable to reach the Big Apple can watch the show through a live stream on Arcade Fire’s official website.

Never a band to do things by half, Arcade Fire has recruited director, writer, actor and Monty Python funny man Terry Gilliam to boss the project. So expect a little more than a point-and-shoot broadcast! More details about the live stream can be found at Arcade Fire’s official website.

Crazy.

24,000 units in Canada = ~ 220,000 units in USA (adjusted for population)
24,000 units in Canada = ~ 45,000 units in UK (adjusted)

Just crazy.

The Downloading Of Eminem

Eminem sets two key digital records this week. "Love The Way You Lie," his smash collabo with Rihanna, becomes the first song in digital history to top 300,000 in weekly sales five times. It surpasses two hits that each topped that sales level four times: Flo Rida's "Right Round" and "California Gurls" by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg. (Does it say something that all three of these songs have a strong hip-hop component? You bet.)

Also, Em's blockbuster Recovery reaches the 500,000 mark in digital sales in just its sixth week. That's faster than any previous album. Coldplay's Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, the album that made the previous fastest march to 500K in digital sales, took nine weeks to get there.

Recovery sold 34,000 digital copies this week. Its digital total after six weeks stands at 520,000.

"Love The Way You Lie" sold 300K copies this week, bringing its six-week total to 1,920,000. It has been #1 on Hot Digital Songs for all six of those weeks. It's the first song to log six weeks at #1 since Ke$ha's "TiK ToK." It's the first song to log six consecutive weeks at #1 since the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," which had nine straight weeks on top from June to August 2009.

But Recovery held on to the top spot in the U.K. for a fifth week. This matches the five weeks it held at #1 in the U.S. Recovery is the first album to spend five or more weeks at #1 in both countries since Eminem's 2002 album The Eminem Show.

Eminem's "Not Afraid" dips from #9 to #10 (107K).

Adding this just for the sake of it lol

* Eminem becomes the first artist in digital age to concurrently hold the # 1 slot on the album sales chart and digital songs chart for 5 straight week, according to BB.
