Recovery first week sales vs other 2010 releases?

Taylor Swift will probably pass it. But that's not the point, first week ain't that important considering all the poor promo & he only got 1 single out before the album (Not Afraid actually blew up more AFTER the album release).

btw the 2nd best first-week sales of 2010 is Sade's Soldier of Love, released in February, about 510k first week, 3rd is Drake's TML with 441k

If "The Catalyst" works well for Linkin Park, I could see them selling upwards of 600k, like they did with their last album (2007).

However, IMO, only Taylor mofu*king Swift stands a chance of beating Em.

I don't think Katy Perry will sell that much though. Perry is more of a singles' lady, though she did blew up in terms of popularity since the release of her last CD.

I still Em will have the best sales of 2010 but I expect Taylor Swift's album to sell more than Eminem's.

What could go against this is if Eminem has a few successful singles (Spacebound? No Love? Talkin' 2 Myself?) and/or releases an EP (of already recorded songs) like GaGa did. Gaga is still selling 20+ k units a week and her Album has been out for ~2 years!

What will certainly help Eminem is the mainstream appeal of his album, compared to the hardcore hiphip of Relapse.

she got country fanbase (which is like the only music genre still selling constantly in US) + pre-teen & teen fanbase (all little girls like to hear about her chasing the imaginary boyfriend)

Promotion wasn't that "poor". I can't remember a night where that stupid commercial for his album didn't air at least twice before the album dropped.

well like you said, that commercial is stupid, I doubt it did much for the album. He only did some TV appearances the week it dropped & some boring interviews for unknown magazines
