Which, for the most part, is what happened to Relapse. When it released people were like 'OMG! Eminem is back!!!!!' Then you see what has occured some months afterwards.

Since i'm a huge SSLP fan, i'm going to say Recovery has no shit on SSLP. Realistically, Recovery MAY have been the more complete album but i'm going to go on a whim and say SSLP smashes Recovery. Recovery is a great album. It had replay value and it was generally a very listenable album, unlike Relapse at certain times. But when you look at the hunger, energy and creativity that went into SSLP, you can see how it was the perfect introductory album. SSLP generates a feeling that Recovery doesn't generate when I hear it. You knew the crazy white boy was going to make a huge mark when you first listen to SSLP (at least for me it did).

No hate on Recovery, I liked the album a lot but I have a love for SSLP that can't be matched by my love for Recovery. SSLP for me.

Recovery
They claim that I'm violent, just cause I refuse to be silent
These hypocrites are havin fits, cause I'm not buyin it
Defyin it, envious because I will rebel against
any oppressor, and this is known as self defense
I show no mercy, they claim that I'm the lunatic
But when the shit gets thick, I'm the one you go and get
Don't look confused, the truth is so plain to see
Cause I'm the nigga that you sell-outs are ashamed to be

Despite my love for Recovery...that is the truest statement ever made. I don't think ANY Em song comes close to Rock Bottom. Amazing rhyming and a heart breaking concept.

Recovery.

But it's tough because you're comparing the same artist with a span of 11 years between the albums. I mean some obvious things Recovery would have:

better flows
better voice
better quality

And at the same time, since sslp was his first album and this is his most recent, I think it will obviously have one big fault automatically:

it won't and can't be as original

At least that's how I feel, though I rarely listen to the sslp anymore it's still dope.

Equal. I related to SSLP a lot when it came out, and it was like I had seen a naked woman for the first time. So damn exciting.

But Recovery relates to me now, 11 years later. Hearing about what he went through, and how he's back on top, regained his pride, etc.

Relapse is better than Recovery. Cold Wind Blows and So Bad should have been on that album. yeah I realize this is SSLP vs Recovery but this topic is dumb as fuck so I'm making my own poll. The only downside to Relapse is some of the accents are annoying but I got over it.

I simply cannot believe more people on this board like Recovery more than The Slim Shady LP.

I think threads like these are indicative of the fact that most people on this board became fans of Eminem within the last 5-6 years.
