Menzo wrote:He was so popular because I remember being in the 3rd grade, so....it was 00/01 year, and we had made these gifts for Father's Day and we had to put our initials on the bottom. The teacher was reading them out and to whomever the initials corresponded to, we grabbed them and took them home for our fathers..obviously. Anyways, my teacher read out, "Whose M&M" and everyone in the class started talking about the little candies, and I was the only one who said, "The rapper!" And people just stared at me like, wtf? Only one kid in my class knew who Eminem was at the time, his initials were J.Z. so we basically called each other Jay-Z and Eminem throughout a good portion of elementary school haha.
LOL. Em was so popular back when I was in 3rd grade as well. There was this one kid in my grade named Wade and we called him Slim Wadey. LOL  O those were the days. :flutter:

He's huge right now. But not as huge as he was then.
Nuff said.

I think the first video of his I saw was "The Real Slim Shady." I thought it was the most hilarious thing ever back then.

And back in those days, I remember being a Britney mini-stan...

If TRL still existed, I bet Eminem could attract that same type of crowd...
No kidding. Like when he made suprise apearences at the Rihanna and Drake concerts. The crowd was like uncontrollably loud.

In 2002...

TES sold over 400k copies it's first week (only two days because it was pushed up), then sold over 800k it's second week, so over 1.2 mill in 9 days.

TES was #1 for 5 straight weeks, then #1 in it's 13th and 14th weeks.

Lose Yourself was #1 for 12 straight weeks and his first #1 single.

8 Mile Soundtrack sold over 4 million copies and was top 5 selling of that year.

TES was the highest selling album that year, I believe it was 7.something or 8 million copies sold.

8 Mile Soundtrack was the first soundtrack to ever have back to back #1 showings on the billboard 200, for weeks #1 and #2. It then was #1 again in weeks 7 and 8.

He had the number 1 movie with 8 Mile, which at the time was the third highest grossing first weekend for a rated R film.

At the time he had the #1 album with the 8 mile soundtrack, the #1 movie with 8 Mile, #1 single with Lose Yourself, and the #7 or 8 album with TES.

I'd say 2002 was the biggest he ever was, and all those facts were off the top of my head...

-Stan :coffee:

Edit: When the 8 mile dvd was released it was the highest grossing dvd release ever, brought in over 80 million, but that was in 2003

But that has since been broken, as well as the #1 soundtrack for more than 1 consecutive week, i think one did 3 weeks :sweating:

No, noob, it's not.
Caution to the wind, complete freedom. Look at these rappers, how I treat 'em, so why the fuck would I join 'em when I beat 'em?

He's going back to his '02 levels. Not there yet, but slowly and surely. TES sold 1.32 million in it's first week, while Recovery sold 1.098 million. He's getting more popular as we speak.

I remember hearing Without Me, Cleain' Out My Closet, Sing for the Moment, and Superman on the radio quite a bit. Then 'Till I Collapse became a mega hit as well.
