LTWYL CONTROVERSY

The amount of controversy this song and video is getting is getting me excited.
Eminem hasnt had any REAL controversy in a while. Controversy is what fuels Eminem.
The negativity. He feeds off of it.

Its feeling like '02 again. Number 1 album. Number 1 single. Number 1 video. Controversy. Eminem.

yea i agree the type of controversy is different...back then it was more homophobic lyrics and drugs

i think now his controversy is gonna rest in his more mature subject matter now....either way....Eminem is in the headlines...thats the way it should be....right??

Drama and controversy are different. Beef? I'm sure Em will handle it differently than he would back in '02, but controversy? Em thrives on that and he always will, because putting a topic out there as much as you can is the best way to expose it and get people to actually deal with it, no one knows that better than him.
Predominantly, predominantly, everything's always predominantly
Predominantly white, predominantly black
Well what about me? where does that leave me
Well I guess that Im between predominantly both of em
I think if I hear that fuckin word again Imma scream
While I'm projectile vomiting, what do I look like, a comedian to you?
Do you think that I'm kidding?
What do I look like some kind of idi- wait a minute, shit, don't answer that..

This is a good example of why Eminem is returning to a truer form of himself, as opposed to the artist he seemed to be during the Relapse album.

Eminem said back around the time he first started getting famous, that he knew the things he was saying would shock people--but that he didn't say them to shock people.

Relapse was clearly alot of material made to shock people. He admitted this himself.

Here, with LTWYL, I think it's clear that he didn't try to shock anyone. He just made music, and people got riled up over a video. One that was done in an artistic and mature way, in my opinion.

It's just funny that a good indicator of Em's true return to his old self is the fact that people are getting pissed over nothing.

Come on. He definitely intended to shock people on MMLP at the very least. He took all the controversial stuff he was criticized for and took it to another level partly just to tick people off.

not sure but I'm getting mixed signs from him, he's not very active & don't wanna talk about the song -> don't want controversy, but at the same time, he got Rihanna to sing the lines "That's ok cause I like the way it hurts.." >> he clearly knew that it would cause some noise when he asked her to to this from first place

I think some form of pearl-clutching was inevitable, to be honest. Rihanna sings from the victim's perspective about "liking the way it hurts", his part ends with saying he will set his girlfriend on fire. The video gives no happy ending/clear resolution, the song gives you no advice a la "Don't try this at home, kids." It was clear that parts of the mainstream would take it literally and condemn it for not being a PSA.
