That's a good point. I didnt make mine very well to be fair. Personally I dont find punches very interesting or engaging compared to other aspects of rap. It doesnt take as much skill to think of a punchline as it does to create imagery, a story or a mutlie.

I don't think I can agree. I think if anything a multie is the easiest thing to bullshit with. A good punchline takes considerable skill. I personally do think a good story does complete an artist though. My top 5 songs of all time would probably have 2-3 story telling tracks in it. Stan & Dance With The Devil easily. Underground rappers will always have amazing punchlines. But in my opinion, they barely have names for themselves, so saying they are the best, that's like saying a shit box no named car with very bad handling is the best car at drifting. It doesn't make sense to me. Big L's punches are funny, smart, jaw dropping AND he had success.

Success and talent is what defines 'best'. You can't say a present student of Hip Hop is better than a legend of Hip Hop. But Big L has only dropped 2 albums, became a legend, died, and his name is still mentioned to this day in punchline discussions. THAT'S what you call skill. Only underground rapper I'll probably ever have in my top 10 is Immortal Technique. And that's because his character is unique as fuck. Not because of his rhymes, but because of his power to influence others.
