Which Was A More Devastating Event To Americans???

Postby Ivy » Mar 5th, '06, 18:16

On December 7, 1944, Oahu, Hawaii, was devastated by a suprise attach from the Japenese Imerial Navy. The Japenese were aiming to destroy the United State's Pacific Fleet of the United States Navy and its defending Army Air Forces and Marine Air Forces. The attack was successful and destroyed and damaged 12 American warships, destroyed 188 aircraft, and killed 2,403 American servicemen and 68 civilians. This attack led the United States into World War II. On December 8, 1941, the U.S. Congress declared war on Japan, and that same day Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Decleration of War. Pearl Harbor was an awakening factor to Americans, most stated that it, " awoke the sleeping U.S. behemoth". Upon hearing this, 4 days after the US declared war on Japan, Hitler declared war on the US, Hitler stated, "As long as the US remained nuetral, no harm would be done, but as soon as the US took action, he would not be left to be overthrown."

However, another event that took place in the United States happened on September 11th, 2001. Set aside all the evidence proving the United States government took part in this, or that it was a conspiracy. On September 11th, 2001, the Twin Towers in New York had a plane each fly into them, causing the Two Towers to collapse, another attact taken place in Washington D.C. at the Pentagon left one side of the Pentagon destroyed. The tragic events left America shook, none of this was perdicted, just like the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Over 2,986 people were killed in the attacks. For the World Trade Center, in the Towers 2,595 people were killed, in the planes that hit the Towers 157 people died. In the Pentagon, 125 people died. In the plane that hit the Pentagon, 64 people died. With the plane that went down in Shanksville, 45 people died. Shortly after the attacks, US troops stormed Afghanistan, which was the second biggest operation outside the US. In January 2002, Congress signed a legal document, and since then our troops have been in Iraq, 4 years later. Iraq is on the brink of Civil War, and the US shows no signs of backing out. How much longer will the US government allow our troops to be killed, when the Iraqi people show no sign of wanting to change and be "free"?

Upon reading this, what event do you justify as being worst, the December 7th, 1944 attacks on Pearl Harbor, or the September 11th, 2001 attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon???

I say its pearl harbour, them japs were crazy.
Much more, financial damge, the way goverments work these days its the money loss they count not the number of people dead.

I find it hard to believe that 9/11 was orchestrated by terrorists. Ive studied architecture for quite some time now, and never has a building fallen from fire. Coz the smaller building next to the world trade collapced supposingly from fire too.. considering that i do believe in the 9/11 event being made happen by the goverment, i say this is the most gruesome crime anyone has ever made.

Pearl Harbor caused massive finacial ruin to the United States, however, so did the Twin Towers and the United States economic expenses. Alone the pentagon forked up 83,000,000 just to rebuild that one section lost. New York City's hotels had to lay off 3,000 employees because tourism has dropped 40 percent. New York alone was making 25 billion dollars a year in tourism, and they've lost a lot if you do the math.

However, I feel Pearl Harbor was the worst. It may not have killed as many as the September 11th, but if you count the number of casualties the US lost through Pearl Harbor and WWII, and then compare them to 9/11 and the war in Iraq, then it's a greater loss. However, if the US goes into a World War, especially with the problems in Pakistan (or something along those lines) and Iran going agaisnt each other, then 9/11 may soon actually overthrow the Pearl Harbor attacks.

Those buildings will be rebuilt from the pockets of the burgoise fuckers that would love the perspective of having their own building in its place.

I thank god Putin hadnt supported the invasion on iraq, and now russia is willing to support iran with uranium, it might have spared thousands of iranian lives.

I agree....they were both devastating events...they both cost Americans thousands to millions of dollars, they took lives, and they destroyed our Nation...but just like Pearl Harbor, they brought Americans together...it may have taken that to realize what we were, but we changed for the better after the Pearl Harbor event...however in 9/11 attacks...it brought Americans together for a short while...but right now...people are beginning to seperate and oppose what the US government is doing in Iraq...if they don't want to change...pull our troops out and quit increasing the casualty rate...right now you can say the we're fighting a losing battle...

The problem is not that the people want it, honestly there should be no such person that wants war. Its these pigs in the offices who gain interest from war that are doing there best to inspire war. if Stalin is to be considered a tyran then i think then bush and his happy tree friends should be labeled tyrans.

I seriuosly see no way for democracy to protect us from this, coz no matter how "free" we think we are, our voices dont mean shit. If people really "Cared" about other people dying, bush should have been stomped to death on his first public apearance. I never had anything against americans but sometimes im just pissed off about how negative people are brought up to be there.

- take for example media, american telivision promotes violence and exposes children to it, and they show cruelty in cartoons.. it does affect the way people observe things, such kind of up bringing is the main reason that people dont care about the slaughter that happens in iraq.

But see with Bush...there's a story behind trying to capture Suddam...back when the Two Towers were first attacked in like 1992 or 1993...George Bush Sr. accused Suddam Hussein...Suddam retaliated and put a hit out on George Bush Sr...obivously it didn't work...but it's the truth...it drew a lot of attention to Sr...well...in an inclosed conference...*which everything is kept a secret...yeah right*...George W. Bush Jr. wanted to specifically go after Suddam for "certain" unknown reasons...when questioned about this...Jr. replied stating that it was governmental issues...he stated that to the press...however...the "conference" info leaked and Jr. admitted wanting to seak revenge because he was doing a favor for his "father"....it's bullshit...

Doesnt that sound like a conspiracy to u?

I dont know about you, but i definately seee a connection to JFK assasination, all these pointless wars, and the columbian drug traffiking. ( too much time to explain my theory just now, but someday ill post my view on this). I see a clear picture of world domination. but then i hear about Bush belonging to the skull & bones society (like his father) and i get kinda paranoid.
