After Curtain Calls... Before Relapse

Ok, I was just thinking:


When did we actually get the news that he had really huge problems with drugs after Encore/Curtain Call? I remember the news about him cancelling the Europe Tour because of his addiction to sleep medications (yes, I almost-formulated this sentence based on BCWYWF). But after that? Was there really anything? I can't remember it. I don't remember any Eminem news from that period.

If I remember correctly, it was in 2009 we got to know that, right? That he had really big problems with drugs, and OD'd and everything? Also, the news about him being fat and went to hospital December 2008 was actually that he had overdosed or something?




Well, if someone could give me a timeline and such, it'd be cool. Also, if they can link to the news/interview where he admitted for the first time (which I think was January 2009 or something) that he had been abusing drugs a little too much.

This is what i remember. After the tour cancellation thing in summer 2005, news got out that he had issues with em. But by like 2006 i think it was the concensus that he was getting better (as you would assume), probably helped by the fact that he did that thing with Busta, and then the whole Re-Up thing was announced. When he went on TRL i think everyone could see he was fucked up but it could be assumed it was attributed to Proof's death, that's what i thought. Nobody suggested he had the drug issues and shit. Then pretty much fuck all was heard of him until those pictures came out of him looking fat, and then it was early 2008 that he got put in hospital for "pneumonia". Then after that obviously nothing really while he got better, then he announced and launched the autobiography, then released I'm Having a Relapse and hyped up the album. From what i can tell he didn't really actually talk about his addiction till around near the release of Relapse, but i may be wrong as i only did a quick Google search.

Of course, all that could be wrong, that's just how i remember following it.

He announced Relapse at the launch of the book, same time as he premiered the I'm Having a Relapse song. That interview takes place like a month after.

That's what I'm wondering. The book came out in October '08 and he got sober in April of '08 so who knows.

At the time of that book I didn't realize the severity of his addiction.
