Great opportunity missed with Recovery...

Postby Emadyville » Aug 26th, '10, 15:03

I just thought about this idea that would have made Em even bigger than he is currently sales and popularity wise.

He released Recovery a decade after arguably his best album the MMLP*, but imagine if he re-released a 10th anniversary edition of the album with a few older songs on a bonus cd, or put one or two new songs on a bonus cd, like he did with curtain call.

Not only would it have sold well, but I think it would have also brought up more controversy and publicity. Overall sales would have been crazy cause I really think it woulda made the top 10 first week, just from hardcore fans. idk it was just a thought I had, it could even be something he can do in 2012 and TES.

Thoughts?

*I think TES is better, so do many, but most people know him for this album and many consider it his best, it's been back in the top 200 since Recovery dropped also

Agreed completely. The Shady/Aftermath/Interscope marketing team is honestly a bunch of fucking idiots.

lol bring what controversy? all the stuff on MMLP are old and irrelevant now. Who wants to hear about Nsync and backstreet boys in 2010? seriously
so no I don't think it will be a good idea, especially commercial wise. Lots of legends release 10-year-edition for their best album but they never sell well, it's usually strictly for fans.

Plus Eminem wants to open a new chapter of his career, not looking back, that's the point of Recovery.

I think it would sell great if he threw on 5 unreleased songs because people are desperate for more songs from his prime.

most people bought MMLP 10 years ago have moved on (not talking about hardcore fans), they don't care if he released 5 unreleased tracks from a 10 years old album. Hardcore fans will buy it, but compared to the general public, they're not that many. Recovery selling so well AND consistent is because of he now appear to the whole new generation (YES I know some people on twitter thought Recovery is his first album)

I really don't think that would have made a big difference. I mean, he put out Curtain Call in '05 and to make a similar album so soon would only be stupid, imo. I think people would look at him more like a greedy fucker.

it would be def be a good idea considering his voice on recovery was similar to his voice on mmlp and it would be a little relevant too , my question is that would it sell more than 1.76mil like mmlp did.

Maybe if we give him recovery back he will make relapse two.

I would rather hear about him cutting people up and eating them instead of how he's back and isnt playing around anymore.
