Bit in "You Don't Know" Verse

Postby EminemBase » Aug 29th, '10, 07:36

It's no pretend shit, it's friendship, me nemesis is su nemesis
Ain't for him, it's just media, see to them it's just images

What's the "ain't for him" bit doing there. I get the rest but wtf is that "ain't for him" referring to... ? That sounds like it goes against what he just said lmao.. ?

UPDATE: Actually I think I just figured it out.

Just listened to it and I'm pretty sure he says SAME FOR HIM. As in same for 50.

It's just a few lyric sites have that bit wrong I think.

He's doin it for the media not for himself, it's not really him. I guess.
There will be my signature. It'll be a hot one. You'll look at it and say - wow that's a gangsta signature.

Geno wrote:Well, the way he says "media" sounds like "me to ya", so maybe there's some wordplay there.

Ain't for him, it's just me to ya.

So he'll fight his enemies?

I don't know, I hate the song and it's 3am at the moment so I can't really think. :tounge2:

just got back from your killings?

It's actually "Same for him", which goes with the previous line. So 50's enemies are his enemies and vice versa

Yeah I know what he's saying / what the verse means.

I just don't get the "ain't for him" bit, seems to make no sense there lmao.

Because it's like "me nemesis is nu nemesis" / my enemy is your enemy... Fine, I get that but then wtf is "ain't for him" AIN'T for him? I just can't... Argh lmao.

Is him 50 and if it ain't for 50 who the fuck isit for. Seems to go against what he just said.

Indeed. I was saying this to a friend online from here last night.

It's almost like some people ignore any good lyricism from that time period as they just accept he was bad period and find a way to pick apart any line no matter how good lmao.

But this verse was good. As was "Public Enemy #1". I really felt he could of taken a step forward there with tracks like that, into this whole government paranoia thing, just step the artistry up a bit. Even if it is unfounded. As opposed to just more bla bla bla on shit we already know.

True True

I know you'll disagree with me here but I'd take Re-Up era Eminem over Relapse era Eminem. You Don't Know, Public Enemy #1, No Apologies etc.. are just more appealing to me voice/subject matter wise.

Well even given the subject matter there. There really isn't anything to fill in that "etc." lmao.

I mean apart from one good song verse, one good song and a good performance of a song written mostly years earlier... There isn't much beyond bitching and yelling.

If it meant he would produce reams of quality material along the lines of "Public Enemy #1" then I'd probably take that one too. But I love the Relapse era anyway, so probably not actually lmao. Flows and writing is way too addictive.
