How long did it take you to become GOOD at it?

Yes, piano, but I took lessons for the first few years. I plan on learning guitar, but by myself.

I play guitar, so do most of my friends, and it really does depend on how dedicated you are and what you mean by good, lol. My friend who's been playing the longest out of all of us, for a year, is self taught and can learn just about anything he puts his mind to, and knows how to pick up most things on sound alone...

May not be helpful, but it's as good as I can do, lol.

EDIT: It also depends upon what style you want to learn, and how.

I have a lot of friends who play piano and guitar...Well most of them play either one of them, if not both lol. Piano seems to be easier to get the hang of than guitar from what Ive seen.

I took like 8 years of guitar lessons and I got pretty good at it, haven't picked it up in awhile though.
