Redman - Rated R

Postby Hiphopdane » Sep 10th, '10, 16:08

I just listened to this song from his Whut thee album. Some lines remind me of some of the stuff that Eminem used to do back in the days. The influence is very obvious if you ask me. I definitely have to listen to the rest of the album cus this one is banging! :)

I was a hardheaded mother-eff, but had to step
cause she hit me with a left, then another left
That's why my brain is out of order
because it just a quarter to manslaughter your little daughter

Got Naughty in my Nature plus I'm down with O.P.P.
The best part about it, I got AIDS, bitch!
Psych, I'm only kiddin, only do it to ugly women
cause the pretty one's puss smell like they went fishin
I grab my dick with a tight grip, cause I might flip
(Yo Red, kick that hype shit on who you had a fight with!)
I had a fight with Chuck, the punk motherfuck
tried to stab me in the gut, so I dazed him with a uppercut (BING!)
Snapped the neck on Michael Myers then I freaked it; cause it was August
and he was talkin this trick or treat shit (Trick or treat!)

Yes of course the influence is obvious.

Why do you think Em puts Reggie (Redman) at #1 on his list in "Till I Collapse".

Also on "Underground" when he's fighting off horror fiction characters, that's a pretty obvious influence from Redman. He did it on his first album.

Influence is not always obvious. How can anybody see Kurupt's influence on Em?

I just found some lines in a song where it's obvious (especially the second part), I thought it was interesting. The song itself is pretty amazing too.

Yeah it's not always obvious but I think in the case of Redman it is.

A lot of Em's humour and style is similar to Redman. But like Em said you can hear a little bit of all of his influences in him. Slick Rick is another big one.
