OutKast's Aquemini

Postby MikeNUFC » Sep 30th, '10, 14:03

Okay, I'm gunna make a wild statement and say this is my 2nd favourite rap album ever, behind Slim Shady LP.

Rather than write why I might as well post this: http://www.slantmagazine.com/music/revi ... emini/1513

Pretty much agree with everything in that review, bar the slant (excuse the pun) at Mamacita.

Every song is a joy to listen to. The production is wank-worthy. Andre's flow and rhymes throughout the album never ever get boring. Big Boi is incredible as well (he's better on Southernplaya but still) and the mood the songs and skits bring is unrivalled by any album.

They're so unique and as far as hip hop groups go are in a league of their own - yes, ahead of Wu-Tang.

Return Of The G, Chonkyfire, Da Art Of Storytelling, and Skew It On The Bar-B all hit my top 30 rap tracks and Aquemini, Rosa Parks and Da Art Of Storytellin Pt 2 arent far off.

Just amazing. I want a new OutKast album (and Andre's solo!!) more than anything right now.

Well I really want to hear Andre's solo.

I mean really... They both did a solo each with Speakerboxx/The Love Below. I mean it was put out as a double-album, but it's two solo albums stuck together.

But it'll be very interesting to hear a totally independent Andre album. He's definitely somewhat of a mastermind. Oozes energy and creativity.

Big Boi's was good.

Yeah but Speakerboxx/Love Below wasn't really a rap album (well not Andre's side anyway). I enjoyed it, but I wanna hear a a pure Andre rap album. Andre's recent verses have been good (Lookin For Ya was epic) so I'm expecting big things.

Big Boi's album was brilliant. Hopefully the critical success of it will make Andre hurry up with his. Big Boi said a few weeks back that he's back in the studio.

Absolutely EPIC album!
Honestly, this album could be released in 2020 and it would still sound fresh - I'd say musically, this i the best hip hop album ever - also the most ambitious

Bar the hook on Mamacita I think everything is perfecct on this, I mean Andre's verse on Aquemini and on Da Art Of Storytellin', earth shattering stuff

Oh, and I have to mention SpottieOttieDopaliscious, fucking love the horns that track

Im gonna listen to this album now - I might listen to Outkats discog front to back actually - nothing like chilling to some classic music while you have a hangover

Also, I agree with Mike an Embase - Andre need to bless us with that solo album asap, I've being listen to the new version of Lookin' 4 Ya (2 verses each instead of one) and International Players Anthem constantly - I'm dying for some new Andre!

On a side note, I can't believe Slant gave this a good write up :o
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

Agreed. It's my favorite album of theirs, for the simple fact that it has Return of the 'G', Aquemini, Synthesizer, and West Savannah. :worship:
