This Is Fucked Up

Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 was much more of a "commercial album" that was made to appeal to pop audience than Recovery was.
But you don't hear the hip hop community bitching about that as much as they are about Eminem appealing to a broader audience.
When Jay-Z collabs with Pop & R&B stars like Alicia Keys and Rihanna, nobody says anything about that.
But when Eminem does it he's "selling out".
People have to realize that Em isn't the same person he was 10 years ago, he's not that angry blonde white boy who bashes pop stars anymore.
I look at Relapse as Em's way of testing the waters to see what the people and his fanbase wanted so he stuck to his old formula of making a "catchy radio" first single and decided to go back to his shock value tactics that earned him critical praise on MMLP & SSLp, but most critics and fans alike panned the album for lacking deep and emotional songs.
So after he realized that the critics and fans weren't a fan of the serial killer and rapist type of songs he decided to take a different direction, and go back to making emotionally driven songs and now that he's done that
PEOPLE ARE STILL COMPLAINING.
:facepalm2
It's fucked up. Sadly Eminem was right when he said that he will never get the props that he deserves.
Anyways, I just had to get this off my chest.
It's quote obvious that Recovery took a lot of inspiration from T.I.'s album Paper Trail and Jay-Z's Blueprint 3.
He was smart, he knew how to make an album to appeal to a broader audience like Jay and T.I. did but at the same time appeal to his die-hard fans.
Unfortunately Em has 3 different types of fans.
The fans of the MMLP & SSLP type of songs and fans of the TES type of songs.
So it's really impossible for Em to please everyone.
I don't mean to sound racist but it really does seem like the black fans of hip hop are always going to overlook Eminem, I think a lot of it has to do with jealousy/envy of the white boy being the dominant force of hip hop music, since he's sold more records than any other rapper.
No matter what he does, people are always going to hate.
It's fucked up.

Sorry I really didn't mean for it to be this long, but sometimes I get carried away with venting and this really pissed me off so I had a lot to say on this issue.

Nah, I was joking. I do agree with what you're saying.

Em fans are just always caught up in what he was from 99-2002 that they can't appreciate it as much anymore.

Yeah it really is messed up that Em has to live this double standard to gain respect in hip hop.
For example lets look at someone like Nas, he's a good rapper, just as lyrically talented as Eminem is.
But Nas has also had plenty of mediocre albums.

But they've both had 3 classic albums as well.
Nas:
Illmatic
It Was Written
Stillmatic

Eminem:
SSLP
MMLP
TES

Nobody complains about Nas' subpar albums as much as they do about Eminem's subpar albums.
In all honesty.
When you compare both of their weakest efforts.
Encore>Nastradomus
But Nas is still respected much more than Eminem is within the hip hop community.
I think a lot of it has to do with the type of people who listen to Eminem, I think a lot of the hip hop heads don't want to be grouped in with the same type of people who listen to Eminem since a lot of little kids who are also Justin Bieber and Miey Cyrus fans listen to Eminem.

I agreed with Eminem. No matter how many records he sells ppl will always say he sells because he's white :coffee: probably the same ppl that said Asher Roth or Paul Wall can't sell because they're white. The fuck

I don't know where to start.

1 - Tell me you're joking when you say no one complains about Nas' subpar albums. What did you only start paying attention to Nas in the last few years. Nas was absolutely torn to shreds during the late 90's over 'I am' and 'Nastradamous'. Why do you think Jay-Z started calling himself 'The king of NY'...because the overall belief was that Nas had fallen off.

2- As for Nas and only 3 classics, well that's just your opinion. I won't state my opinion either, but the general consensus (sales + critical acclaim + impact + influence + fans thoughts) is that Nas clearly has at the very least 5 classic albums (Illmatic, It was written, Stillmatic, Gods Son & Hip Hop is Dead).

You could do a better comparison with Jay-Z who's always been labeled by hard hip hop heads as a big disappointment. Sales always saved him though because of the wide audience his music was passed to.
The New York Times - "Lloyd Banks may have stealthily become the most important rapper in New York".

I said Nas' subpar albums aren't complained about as much as Eminem's subpar albums are.
God's Son
and
Hip Hop Is Dead
are decent albums at best in my opinion nothing special compared to his earlier efforts.
Don't get me wrong, they're solid albums but I just don't think they're on the same level as Illamtic, It Was Written or Stillmatic so I don't consider them classics.
Both God's Son and Hip Hop Is Dead have too many filler tracks.
It's pretty unanimous that I Am and Nastradomous are garbage.
and Untitled is mediocre at best, most tracks were over produced.
I still think Eminem is much more criticized for his weaker albums than Nas is.
Relapse & Encore still get mad hate.

Yeah, Eminem will never get the props he deserves. Untill he dies. Jay Z is the most overrated dude ever. Nas is great.

People always speak how Encore sucked, and name few bad tracks (Ass like that, Fack, Big weenie...). So what. Everybody has ups and downs. And there are great songs on Encore. And Em`s flow on Relapse, and his wordplay and multies are untochable even with the accents.

So, I will go with TES, MMLP, SSLP and name tracks like The way I am, Stan, Lose yourself, Kill you, Rock bottom, Till I collapse, Sing for the moment, Cleaning out my closet, Just don`t give a fuck..., and ask you who can compete with that?

And I did`t even mentioned Recovery.
