Yes my professors used to be against Freud as well but at least they tried to teach me unbiased Freudian knowledge. If you really wanna grasp his ideas you can't read secondary sources (that's what my prof used to say) about him. You have to read his works. And just because you can't scientifically prove them doesn't mean that they are bs. Well, the fact that he made himself high as a kite to see what's underneath the surface sorta ruined it, BUT take ANY person you know more about and you'll see that some of it makes sense. I teach at preschool and the kids act exactly as Freud predicted.So...it can't be that bad. it's sad actually that psychology professors don't understand that in order to make up your own mind you have to get introduced to theories in their entirety, meaning you have to be introduced to the PROS and CONS. I could send you my notes and everything BUT they won't be of use to you since they're in German.
