Personally it's Subject Matter>Lyrics for me but that doesn't mean that EVERY single song has to have some deep meaningul content or emotion througout it. The problem with Underground artists are usually the subject matter (which is the same problem with the mainstream) but that don't mean i won't bump some feelgood music like some Redman or some old Slim Shady shit. Yeh it's great to hear a MC rip some lyrical nothingness once in a while, hence why Slaughterhouse and AOTP are liked but there's room Meaningless Lyrical Rap and Deep Meaningful raps. Just the best rappers can do both
