Who the fuck cares what Taylor Swift sells? Or Susan Boyle? Eminem made a great album and it's awesome that he's still relevant and sells massively. Being outsold by some casting show winner or a whiny, self-important woman who still pretends to be 12 and can't sing or write decent songs won't make Recovery a worse album.

I get that this is the sales thread and that artists need to sell to stay relevant and to be able to continue doing music. But that's not everything. And no, he shouldn't feel obligated to do more promo just because Kanye West does. Or Drake. Or Weezy. Or Nicki. Or Soulja Boy. Geez, people complain that he's "sold out" because he did a song with Rihanna. And then they complain about him not selling out enough and not doing the traditional press rounds shilling every single and every concert.

And why do I care about this when Eminem obviously doesn't? LOL.

He got 2 Good singles that did (HELP) him , Say 3 with no love... ...And Vmas, Interviews, concert shows, And The list goes on.

So i think she wont outsell him in first week and total week sales...

And country/Pop cant outsell Eminem, But it can outsell the rest of the hip hop artists

But your opinion sounds reasonable

why do you make it sound like Em has some massive promo? he really doesn't, hell there's actually barely promo, the only promo I consider affective there was the vma performance, but that's after the album, and taylor performed at the vma too. Recovery actually sold itself because of its quality, Em & his team has done nothing for it, I believe it could sell even more if they marketed it right but they didn't give a fuck to do that

He had promo with singles and concert shows.......And he dosent need some big promotion because he got loyal fans......

Taylor wont outsell Eminem on first week sales.....Maybe total but i dont think so too.

?? sorry but connecting with your fans does not mean "selling out", it's not like we're asking for something impossible here, if he wants to hear ppl talk about him then he has to give us something to talk about, so if he don't like doing interviews, he could drop new freestyles or tracks, it's not about popularity, it's about catering your fans. You could see the forum been running dry here cuz there's nothing new to talk about

But he has brilliant sales and IMO a very good album. That someone sells more won't take that achievement away from him.

I know that I'm like a broken record with this but ever considered that he doesn't want to do more promo? That he feels comfortable dropping the album, doing videos, a few interviews and leaving well enough alone? He has enough money. Not everyone wants to do this "Look! I wrote a song about John Mayer! And Kanye! And all the Jonas Brothers! Pay attention to me!" spiel. He doesn't need to do that if he doesn't want to. And he obviously doesn't.

And I don't feel that he "owes" me anything. I buy his music because I like it. Just because I'm a fan doesn't mean that I feel entitled to have some "connection" with him. I don't know him. And I have no problem that he doesn't pretend otherwise. I get that other artists do it differently. But IMO Eminem is not "wrong" for staying out of the spotlight.

And yeah, I know this is the sales thread, carry on, just felt the need to rant a bit.

I agree with alaine

taylor swift will definately outsell eminem in US (and maybe world wide but mainly through sales in US)......but not too sure about first week sales

hip hop fans are very enthusiastic .they buy the album then and when it is dropped so high first week sales

but country fans buy throughout so little drops are there

singles affect sales but not to great extent that above people are thinking
katy perry had 2 very successful singles(certainly more successful than not afraid) but she didn't sell shit..she totally flopped

I agree with you katha, well said!

When it comes to Taylor vs Em i think she will do a lower first week number then Em, but she will eventually catch up. Like Recovery and C3.

Even if you were just average on the outside (but not fat) I could like you if you sounded smart.

look this is how its gonna be about the arguement with taylor and Em......first week sales in the US between them will be very very close,im sayin shel do just under recovery(bout 710k)...her overall sales in the US will overtake recovery sooner or later no doubt because country is the genre that is selling the most now days and shes the largest artist in the genre(Recovery eventually 4 million,Speak Now eventually 5 million).....World Wide Taylor Swift WILL NOT outsell Eminem in any aspect,Em's WW first week and overall sales will be higher.....Swift will not outsell Recovery by the end of the year in the US,Recovery will sell about 3,2 million while Swift will sell about 2,5 million!!
