this forum has to many stans. I'm by no means bashing relapse and i did disagree with them leaving em off the list last year but MTV has stressed that the list is not meant to represent the greatest rappers of all time but the most interesting and culturaly relevant artists of the current year. They also base it off sales, buzz, performances, radio, lyrical delivery, etc. Em only met one of those last year which was sales. He rarely ever performed except for some tv shows and the release party. Radio wise he only had crack a bottle (which was not the greatest song to begin with) We made you did horrible on the radio. and although the album built up buzz it was not well received by critics and even numerous fans except loyal fans who could appreciate the lyricism. Plus the accents were bashed as well. and for ANYONE trying to argue these points to me then please explain to me why the man himself who made this album would agree with everything i just said and openly does in his songs/interviews.
This little list that mtv makes every year has nothing to do with real hip hop. its not about wats the the best. in reality its one big popularity contest. Its about whos getting the most media coverage, whos getting the most airplay, whos winning more awards, making the most money or whos on tv more, u name it. Yes it's fucked up but i dont see why people get so upset when this list is openly based off media coverage and who the general public (not necessarily hip hop heads) are paying attention to. Jay-z's blueprint 3 achieved everything that the judges were looking for last year, as did lil wayne's the carter 3 did before that, and now this year with eminem's and recovery. Understand the list before you criticize it
