just because it may not be THE best selling album of the year doesn't take away the fact that it sold a lot  I think Em never had a best selling album of the year before anyway, MMLP got outsold bby nsync & britney that time :facepalm

2. The Marshall Mathers LP / Eminem ~ 7,921,107

so I was right about nsync, I was guessing though cuz I remember they opened over 2 millions
nice to see TES was the best selling of 02, didn't know that before :D

btw, I must say, seem like back in the day ppl took 1st week sale a lot less important than now

The way I see it is that mostly Hip-Hop fans started this trend with 1st week sales. Not sure if I see it right, but pop stars usually have much lower 1st week sales then hip-hop stars,on the other hand their sales last longer.

Let's not handwring too much because of Taylor Swift...we're only playing into her evil schemes. :p

And yeah, I can believe that she'll move huge numbers. She's everywhere. It's kind of sad that the media and the public seem to be so into her shtick. But corny pop always did well, so no surprise really. Agree with Alaine that the really annoying thing about her is that she's not even doing country, she's just posing as "country star" to appeal to that huge audience as well. And she adapts the persona of a whiny bratty 12-year-old. And everyone who dares call her out on her childishness is just "mean" and not worthy of precious angel-child Taylor. Bah.

I think 50 started this trend with all his talk about his big first week sale back in his hey day :facepalm

I always know she's not strickly country, but I don't have problem as long as the music is good, but the main problem is that her music is a mess with childish laughable lyrics, plus she can't even sing

Recovery will be the #1 selling album of the year. Worst case is it just won't have the highest first week.

Basically, Taylor's label shipped 2,000,000 first week.

Recovery will be fine. It did over 42K again this week. :y:

140 000/9 = 15 555..

so he needs an average 15.6 k per week... that's easy as cake

Minimum: 3,15 million by end of the year :y:

I doubt there will be a refill to Recovery they did it for Relapse to help it top 2 million. Recovery has many tracks that can be singles yet. I can see this album reaching 4 million before the end of 2011 without the need of a extra CD. But it would always be great to hear more new music. :8)

^ yeah, Refill was just to fulfill the fans cuz he said he would put out 2 albums last year but couldn't do it. Besides by this time last year most ppl already forgot relapse existed so they need something out to boost sale/ Recovery still top 10 & selling, they're probably not done with the singles yet so I don't see a re-release this soon (I said this soon cuz popular albums tend to have re-release, just not in the same year with the original, if Recovery had a re-release it would probably be next year)
