STEVE SPAG - "Alarm" & "The Coast"

Postby Steve Spag » Oct 30th, '10, 16:01

Not typing a paragraph for these, just enjoy! Very rough recordings, I did these a couple months ago, so don't think this is my newest shit because the new shit shits on this shit. Alright? Word.

the alarm beat is horrible hahaha... every aspect of it. not any of the instruments is mixed, the kick drum is rough as fuck. hard to listen..... your flow makes it better tho hahaha. nice ride along the beat. the only think I dislike a bit about your flow is that your o's and a's sound like if you go woawoawoa u know what I mean hahaha... makes it sound funny I dunno lmao.... but the writing and overal flow is genious,"I am the king man, and here's my castle bitches" hahaha... I'm gonna bite that :y:

now this sounds better... *bangs head*... but why do you use the same flow??... I would approach this in an extremely smoother way... but well, everybody its own way cuz its not bad. I like the sampled hook
"call her retriever, cuz she's golden"... I lol'd there
and the thrid verse is a piece of art :worship:

this both songs aren't on studio right??

yeah, the coast is great... alarm not that much... but I think you should try experimenting new flows cuz seems like its always the same where you make the words a bit longer and sound like woawoawoa lmao hahaha...

lyrics = :worship:

Hahaha, that's not harsh bro. These songs are actually pretty old, I've sent them to a few members on here months ago actually. I'd say they were done mid-summer time. I'ma release another NEW track sometime next week though, most recent track I've recorded!

Glad you like "The Coast" though, that's the song I really care about of the 2. "Alarm" was written/recorded strictly for a show a did, so I didn't really care too much about the vocals/delivery on it.

The Coast- Loved the beat, really chill. Your flow was perfect but I didn't think your delivery really matched the beat much :-k iunno. Other than that it was good though, nice work.

I call her a retriever cause she's golden...that made me cringe, never say a line like that again.
You think your personal attacks make up for what you lack?

alarm....flow was prolly one of the better flows i've ever heard from you...shit coasted over the beat...soo good look....delivery actually sounded natural...and the lyrics were okish for what they was....this sounded pretty good..i can fuck with this :y:

The coast....flow was okish...in spots it was bad..but it wasn't overall that bad....delivery actually didn't sound to bad..but def not as good as alarm.

gotta be honest....the punches i heard in the last 2 out of the 3 songs i've heard are hella corny....you either need to step them up and try harder to be witty...or just stop them...

"my marijuanna pipe that's sleek and chrome man
i call it retriever because she's golden "....
really?...you got to write.....then take a day off and read shit like this back to yourself later....cuz i'm sure if your being 100% honest with yourself and saw it from a listener's POV, you'd hear it was pretty meh-ish....i'm pretty sure you can do better then that...

just being honest bro

Thanks for the feed guys!
:y:

Tom I actually do get what you're saying and I honestly never really thought of it that way. Usually when I'm writing I don't take other people's consideration into account, I just go by how I feel at that moment in time. I definitely get what you're saying though, from a regular person's point of view that may not be necessarily used to my style, they may think it's a bit weak. "The Coast" was one of those tracks though that was on my radio demo, which is why some of the lines you heard were pretty corny (along with in Sticks & Stones), I was doing that purposely.

^don't dumb down to be accepted, thats just foolish and takes away all pride and purpose in doing it. Do the best you could possibly do. Do YOU on a track, don't water it down just to please "radio". Cuz yeah, there are alot of rappers who get signed, but how many actually release a cd, sell well, and stick around?

The people who can switch up and adjust without trying to "please" people are the ones who stick around and are the most successful. Look at Jay-Z, eminem, ect. Relate to people, not the politics, cuz at the end of the day, the fans are the ones who actually support you.....

just keep that in mind.

For sure, but I AM doing me. I mean, what you hear is what I am and that's how I feel. However I do relate to people, and people relate to me, I think that's pretty evident if you've been following my career, lol. I have some pretty amazing fans, and not even a quarter of them come from here, I do have a following from all corners of the earth and they sure have been supportive!

Alarm. Don't think I'd like the beat if I had it, but you def made this sound good. Loved ur flow, was good to hear a def change in that aspect, really worked man. Delivery was nice, def felt this, the confidence was there, not that it wasn't in other shit, just stood out more. Lyrics I enjoyed, overall man I really liked this shit.

The Coast: Dude, loved the feel of this. Def picked up more in the 2nd and especially the 3rd verses, but looking bad, it was good that it worked like that, as opposed to dying off if reordered. The "we're retarded" part sounded pretty cool, made me laugh, and actually the ending and the "but I'm harder" made me laugh too. Def an enjoyable track, liked how you used pronounciation to make some shit rhyme, except for the one (think it was at the end) in the first verse. Delivery was perfect, flow was good except like once or twice it seeme a syllable too much or a few less shook it up, but it was minute shit, nothing that ruined the song or overlly stood out. btw can you pm me this beat if you don't mind :y:

overall man 2 enjoyable tracks, really liked them both :worship:

The Coast is definitely great! I've always loved it, just never got around to posting here. The Alarm isn't as good, but it was okay. Reminded me of Raining Comets actually, I'm not sure why. Keep it up Spag, you're doing great lately. These tracks deserve a bump. :y:

Alright you guys are probably gonna wonder why i'm bumping lots of old Steve shit with my feed, it's cause he asked me to feed all these tracks over the last few months and i never got time, so i wanna share my thoughts. Ima leave this notice above every single one incase someone misses the message :p

Alarm:
Alright well the beat just grates my shit personally lol but thats me
The flow is pretty fuckin great for the beat, i love hearin it even if i don't like the style cause it shows not every flow you do is similiar.
The lyrics, considering what type of song this is, are actually pretty good haha. Some of the lines were pretty great lol
I thought the ending was kinda abrupt though, and imo that "I'm back" should have sounded stronger
The delivery sounds cocky enough at times, but at other times it sort of slips back into the similiar style of many of your songs, i dunno for a beat like this it should sound more like how you do at the start, like at the start you sound real energetic n shit and later on slightly less.
Not really my kind of shit personally but you did a decent job with a shitty beat is how i feel about this one lol

The Coast:
Now this beat is nicer
Your flow on this is fuckin again different than usual, but this one i'm loving lol, you rode this beat fuckin perfectly
The hook is nice as well, works well
I like the concept, it's seems a bit generic at the start i suppose cause a lot of rap songs can be about this kind of shit, but you made it a bit more relevant at the start of the second verse and later on. The whole party vibe is kinda a theme with you, but i like that you at least put the effort in with the lyrics and don't just rap about fucking girls and shit.
Oh damn your flow is fucking great at like 1:22 onwards to 1:30, that was fuckin hot haha
Ended the second verse well too, led into the hook nicely
I like this one way more.
The lyrics were good for the most part, but at times you kinda reminded me of Em with Recovery, with the punchlines which have clearly took a bit of effort to come up with lol. The retriever line was pretty meh, but the "he's the stiff one but i'm harder" one was fuckin better lol
This track's way better haha, i like this shit a lot
