The Shouting....

For some reason I loved the shouting on his old albums...From MMLP and some of TES.
The shouting on songs like The Way I Am, Kim, Kill You, Till I Collapse and Soldier gave the tracks a real grimey feeling to them and it would get me pumped like I could beat the shit out of anyone that pisses me off.

Now when I hear some tracks on Recovery I just can't vibe with it....LTWYL, 25 to Life, Won't Back Down etc.

I don't get the same feeling from hearing these songs as I did from his older material.
There's a few exceptions like Cold Wind Blows and Almost Famous.

Maybe it's the watered down production or the subject matter?

Does anybody else feel the same way?

I love his shouting on 'Wont Back Down'. I'm the minority that absolutely loves that song. But his shouting on 'Celebrity' and 'LTWYL pt. 2' makes him sound off beat and it sounds forced.

his flow on relapse was so smooth. I could see someone being annoyed with the accent or the content but he made rapping look easy, effortless even. Now his flow is so forced.

Well, you have to think, he was in his late 20's back then. His voice these days has matured, and therefore it brings a different sound. He still sounds generally the same, but I think he does the shouting to sound angry or hungry. I think he'll grow out of the shouting by the time his next album comes, hopefully the more collaborations he has the more he'll want to experiment with his voice

I mean, the closest to MMLP style he's gotten, for me anyway, is his Roman's Revenge verse(s). He reminds me a lot of MMLP on that song, just put some punchlines (the titty punchline was ) in instead of his old MMLP story-telling lyrics. Of course, others may not see it this way, it's just when I first heard the verse that's what I was reminded of
