The point of the totem was to spin forever if it was a dream despite who spun it. The twist at the end is you don't get to see if it falls or not.

I guess it was just before my time and I'm not really into movies so I don't watch "classics" that much but I'll deffinitely watch this now

Yes, but no one else was allowed to touch it. If you recall, it was handled by atleast 2 other people beside Leo and his wife. (The main asian guy and the other one that worked for him, who found him on the shore).

Not all totems are designed to spin. They're supposed to be special objects in which only YOU know the weight / feel of. That way nobody can duplicate them. Leo said that totem spun forever in his wife's dreams but never mentioned his own. If you recall, the times that he spun it, he swiped it up before it even had a chance to fall. That's a telling sign.


And yes, Donnie darko is a dope movie. It's the predecessor to the butterfly effect series. Not the same story, but same concept.
