SICK Of Collaborations With Pop & R&B Singers....

Postby SatansAngel » Nov 11th, '10, 00:54

Ok, you've had your fun working with pop/R&B stars Marshall..........
Pink, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Lil Wayne.

THINK about it....Only real rappers that Eminem has collaborated with in the past 2 years are Lloyd Banks & Slaughterhouse.

(I like B.o.B but he is hardly qualified as a real hip-hop artist in my book...I look at him more as pop rap and R&B-ish type of singer.)

I think some of Eminem's best pieces have been with non-rap artists. Like Toy Soldiers, Stan, Sing for the Moment, etc. Although they sampled older artists, it doesn't really surprise me Eminem collaborating like that (he used to have Nate Dogg a lot). The only consistent rappers I can think that he collabs with are Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and D12. He hasn't done any recent stuff with Dr. Dre, but I always assumed it was because he used to need Dre's popularity and now that he is so well known, he doesn't need to rely on Dre's name (that and Detox is "coming"). 50 Cent seems to have dropped off the radar now. I was surprised that D12 wasn't on the album, but could understand why they weren't.

Eh? You can't really count samples as collaborations. But yea I kinda agree with the OP, I'm getting bored of him doing this shit with other artists now. I can't believe on that recent Skrocket interview he actually said Drake was a great lyricist, GTFO. And I don't dislike Drake because he is one of these new wave of rappers, I just think he sucks period for a number of reasons. I'm looking forward to the collab with Slaughterhouse, on some real rap shit.

i don´t think it´s bad at all...i mean beside the fact, that he is succesfull with pop and RnB feat. and that i like many of them, he gotta help new artists. Even if eminem still leads the game, new rappers will come and that´s a good fact for hip hop i think. i mean look into the pop section...maybe 5-6 years ago, aguilera an britney were the stars....now there are gaga, rihanna, perry....there has to be some changin and new stuff in music so i don´t mind em doing feat. at all, but that´s just my opinion.

There should be a collaboration with a rock artist like Travis Barker

Gotta love the term "real hip hop". The dictators of hip hop are always working so hard!

SICK of the bitching

Seriously, it's good that he collaborated with Rihanna and Pink and shit for Recovery, because an album full of You're Never Over-esque hooks with Em on them...brrr, I shudder at the thought

I would rather have someone who sings well on a hook anyway, and have Em do the verses

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

Okay B.o.B is not pop.

Just because you don't rap / sing about killing people or hip-hop itself, doesn't make you pop lmao.

Pop is an actual genre in itself. It's watered down rock music that formed in the 50s, severely watered down. And its content is almost strictly love songs.

B.o.B is NOT that. He's a multi-instrumentalist, a very decent lyricist with a poetic flair and a real singer. It's an insult to the amount of talent that guy has to dismiss him as pop or fucking RnB.

He's neither. He blends a plethora of genres. He's trying to dismay boxing in and easy categorizing for one thing. So he's not hip-hop or just X or Y or Z. He's many things. But most importantly he's a real artist, who puts his mind and soul into the music and isn't just tacking together tacky tunes.

And he's a better artist than Slaughterhouse and Lloyd combined. Not saying he can rhyme better or write wittier punchlines, before anyone flips out. But he's an actual artist, not just a rapper with a mic. But yes I agree I would like Em to collab with more lyricists now. I wanna see more Xzibit, a Nas track, another Redman track and more Bad Meets Evil.

Pink: I'm in the minority that likes WBD

Rihanna: LTWYL was a summer smash that helped Em become relevant again, so it's understandable.

Drake: While I dislike Drake as an artist, the Forever remix brought back the aggressive Eminem that we all missed..so Drake gets partial credit for this.

Wayne: Drop the World is a decent song, and No Love brought out the best in Em. I also dislike Wayne, but Em hasn't made a bad song with him (yet)

Nicki Minaj: Ok you got me, Roman's Revenge was pretty mediocre.

But as long as the song turns out good, then I really don't care who he chooses to collab with.
