The Relapse Project -- one year later.

What do you think about Relapse and Relapse: Refill now?

I, for one, think the album is very good and contains genuine moments of genius. I find it more interesting (lyrically, conceptually, and musically) than Recovery, but there are some tracks I do not care for. I think the album would have been a genuine hater-proof masterpiece if this were the tracklist. I put thought into my arrangment of the tracks and tried not to have two "serial killer" tracks next to each other. I wanted to have "Elevator" close the album a la "My Dad's Gone Crazy". I also made sure that the entire album could fit on one disc. (77:11 is the total length.)

1. Intro / Careful What You Wish For
2. My Darling
3. Hello (single)
4. Same Song and Dance
5. Insane
6. Old Time's Sake (feat. Dr. Dre) (single)
7. Buffalo Bill
8. Crack a Bottle (feat. Dr. Dre & 50 Cent) (single)
9. Stay Wide Awake
10. Drop the Bomb on 'Em
11. Medicine Ball
12. Beautiful
13. Music Box
14. Must Be the Ganja
15. Déjà Vu
16. Hell Breaks Loose (feat. Dr. Dre) (single)
17. Elevator

Honestly the only songs I enjoyed the most were My Darling, Deja Vu, My Mom, Stay Wide Awake, and Medicine Ball. Relapse was a good album lyrically and production wise too, the voice and accent(with the exception of the two bonus songs and Insane) just turned me away for it. I guarantee if he had the same voice tone as his last two verses of My Darling, I would call it an instant classic.

Relapse was and IS a very good album.

I still listen to Beautiful, Same song and dance and Deja Vu. Sometimes Insane and medicine ball.

And Buffalo bill in refill.

PS: Stop fucking complain about Relapse! His lyrics was amazing. And the beats was very good.

Damn, why do we need to discuss this thing every fucking week? :facepalm
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Menzo wrote:I love the lyricism from Relapse/Refill and really wish there was more material released from that era, but I don't really like your track list :-k The songs just seem like they wouldn't flow well together. For example, I think the intro Dr. West followed by 3am is magnificently put together, along with Tonya and Same Song & Dance.

I cut the skits to include more actual music. Also, I find "Buffalo Bill" and "Music Box" are superior to "3 a.m." and I did not want to include too many serial killer songs.

Yes, it is a very good album.

I am not complaining about Relpase. The lyrics, especially on Refill, are some of his best to date, and the production was mostly top-notch.

I'm saying its what people make it....they did that to Encore, replacing the Bonus tracks with the regular tracks, and thats what its become

Relapse >>>>>>>>>> Recovery.

I think both are weak comeback albums, too.

Don't get me wrong, both albums have some great tracks on them...but the albums as a whole lack when comparing to his earlier material (sorry, it's just the way it is).

Why I think Relapse shit's on Recovery is because Relapse is at least Eminem staying somewhat true to himself as an artist and who he always claimed to be. I respect that. I also respect branching out as an artist and growing, but with Recovery I felt Em did that in complete sellout fashion. Jumping on tracks with Wayne, Pink and Rihanna was just disappointing...as was the whole tone of the album. It's basically a semi-twisted love album that teenage girls can vibe to. This is not Eminem.

Relapse, again while not that good either, at least had even an underground feel to it. You really felt that Em was doing it for his real fans, even though it was a miss. Recovery was just to ca$h in, straight up, and take the easy ride to #1 again.
