Next Em album NEEDS to have...

Postby OMEGA » Nov 15th, '10, 04:27

The "Forever" voice. Seriously, it's my favorite of 'em all. I like the yelling style for Recovery, but I'll be very annoyed if he uses it for his next album. Come to think about it, none of his albums sound like his actual real voice at all. It's time for one :y:

I agree.

I don't know how much longer I can take the yelling.

The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show are both his "real", normal voice.

Far from it. MMLP still has some of the Slim Shady era voice and TES is the predecessor of the yelling he's using now.

Underground, Careful What You Wish For and Forever are the only song I can think of where he's using his adult voice. Even Drop the World and Airplanes pt. 2 had some yelling going on.

And for whatever reason, if Em uses his normal voice for his next album, I'm pretty much 99.9% sure that all the detractors of Relapse and Recovery would love the album, even if lyrically or production wise was below those two. Hmmm...

I wouldn't go that far. They'll say he's fallen off lyrically and that the beats are trash.

Now that I remember, Em used his normal voice for this year's Tim Westwood freestyle. Compare that to any of his older stuff and you'll see what I mean with "real actual voice".

The Eminem show is without a doubt his normal voice. He was super pissed off and angry all the time then so that's how his voice sounded when he rapped. Deffinitely his normal voice though.

Eminem Show voice + less poppy, dark, melodic sounding beats + no forced corny punchlines + no young money/ shit rapper collabs = classic album.

I'd prefer his 03 / Cheers voice. But that would do too.

But more concerned about the content. He certainly did good with "25 to Life" and "Almost Famous". He needs to think of big ideas like that, concepts and / or storytelling.

And now that he's literally run every aspect of his life past and present into the ground now, he'll be forced to. So I can't wait to see what comes next.

He won't yell like Recovery on the next one though. He changes his style every album. Recovery is probably the closest to past albums he's ever done, in that you could call the style some kind of infliction between MMLP and TES. But it's still nothing like them.

He always writes and flows in a way he's never done before. And he does it so good each time round you 'feel' like you've heard it before. But then realize, this is the first time you're hearing him rap like X, which is weird. Like on "Space Bound", he's never really written like that before, that style of lyricism but it just... feels like he has lmao. It's so annoying.

But nah, that's part of his magic - Creating a new sound every time. Like he said in an 02 interview, 'if you sound the same as your last album, what's the point' (paraphrase). Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but he never gives you repeat product (style-wise). I think he's pushed flows and rhyming very far over his career though, it's really time to chow down on IDEAS again.

He should do at least one song in his "I'll Hurt You" voice. I've never heard him use that one aside from that song.

Not really.

His lyrics sometimes 'told a story' in that they progressed and wove in and out of situations but he didn't directly tell any actual stories.

i hope your right about him changing his style but imo we dont know how much he has changed being sober. that quote you posted is accurate but it was all the way back in 2002.

i know he switched styles from relapse to recovery but it seemed like that was because he was still getting used to being sober. i dont see whats gonna change for him to change direction for his next album. i hope your right though.
