Swap "Chain Heavy" for "DINAND"... ?

Postby EminemBase » Nov 18th, '10, 19:01

I like My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy quite a lot. I don't think it's as good as Graduation, it's obviously more ambitious in scope and sound but I just think Graduation's lyricism, content and execution (production-aside) are all more consistent and enjoyable.

Anyway, the only song I really skip on MBDTF is "Devil in a New Dress". When I listen to it, it's not actually a bad track but I find it boring. I heard "Chain Heavy" for the first time the other day since it came out, and I can instantly recall that track despite hearing it once.

I like its ballsy attitude and vibe too. And think it would of been a more worthy addition to the album than "Devil in a New Dress". I know that Kanye structured the album pretty awesomely to flow in this sequence though, so maybe you'd need to change a few to get "Chain Heavy" in the right position.

But if I could swap those two tracks - Well I can, lmao - But I mean, 'officially', have it changed on the album, then I think it would be a pretty flawless album for what it is. At present, I'd probably rate it my second or third favourite Kanye album. It may improve to me over-time, it has been doing so thus far, although I can't see it ever being better than Graduation to me.

Chain Heavy (album version) includes only Kanye, it's one of the bonus tracks :y:

Yeah I know. I mean like, have it on the official track-list.

I like the quality control of this album though, although it's not especially short due to some long tracks, 13 is a good number. I think some people, especially Em for instance are guilty of not enough quality control and sometimes over-doing it with like 16-18.

It's really hard to have anything above 12 tracks that ALL gel, work and create a consistent album without detracting from anything IMO. I think he pretty much did it with this album though - and actually only has 10 actual music tracks on there. But it works. But I wish "Chain Heavy" was on the album.

Hangon though, you say it only includes Kanye? Is the one that I have a remix or something then. I have one with Talib Kweli & Consequence on it?

Nice, can't wait.

Incidentally, I think what's going to happen more and more is digital output / integration with releases now. As notice, they can avoid leaking all together when the music is released digitally.

Well, if they handle the files badly of course or get hacked they still can't. But, most leaking happens when they produce the CDs and they're in the hands of workers, shippers etc. etc.

They could also still charge, relatively the same ballpark figures for albums and save a lot of money having to do no physical production at all. I'm surprised nobody has... innovated or made themselves the fore-front in it already (artist-wise).

But I suppose the labels don't wanna accept the CD industry is done until it's down and out. BUT, many people - Myself included, will still always want to own a physical product. Having a batch of files just isn't the same. I want physical art, something to possess and look at.

So it's a very strange paradox. In that, people want the convinience, finger-tip delivery and method of digital music yet the experience of a physical product. Whoever merges the two, somehow... in some kind of innovation, will be very rich. I may just do it myself :smoking:
