Complaints regarding Hip Hop

Postby mcZu » Nov 19th, '10, 20:27

It's better to voice our negative opinions about Hip Hop in one thread, so it can be easily accessed and easily viewed. Here you can either mention a current problem you have with Hip Hop, or a past problem. Of course there is room for disagreement. Therefore; please try to be constructive with your complaints, and please refrain from being offensive against your fellow TR members during a debate. Thank you.

People are ignorant and would rather listen to shitty rappers (Lil Wayne) because of there simple beats and there simple lyrics about bitches and drugs and shit like that instead of taking the time to listen to great Hip-Hop.

I'm not underground4life I'm good-and-entertaining-music4life.

Oh and Eminem, Vinnie Paz and DZK fell off :(

^Not to mention how painful it is to try to listen to so called 'rap' stations for even a couple minutes. Same 5 artists & songs on constantly. :n:

I don't like how rappers (mainly mainstream nowadays) will jock another rappers style and/or sound

Kind of like Raekwon with Cuban Linx 2, that album had great success all thing considered, and now a lot of veterans are making part 2's of their best work (AZ, GZA, Ghostface, Nas, Redman)

What I mean by jocking another rappers sound I'm refering to the beats they pick, as RA says on "Lessons", "Just Blaze is hot now, why don't you get with him?"

Another thing, I hate the way rappers follow trends, especially the autotune era, and nowadays the way almost every well known rapper is using Young Money style punchlines - leave that shit to Lil Wayne

/rant
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

1. Good Mainstream Artists following shitty trends
2. Underground rappers making songs with no meaning then bitching about the mainstream for lack of substance
3. Fans being closed minded to one extreme or the other. It's not about a catchy club beat with pre-school lyrics and it's not about multis. If a song is good to you and you can say why, it's ok. Music is feeling and if you feel the song you like it.
4. Mixtape DJ's
5. Painful Chiched Stereotypes
6. Mainstream Media. It doesn't represent Hip-Hop no more as a culture only the point of number 5
7. Tim Westwood and Soulja Boy

Menzo wrote:99% of mainstream Hip Hop is dog shit, I'd rather listen to a recording of my diarrhea. People praise artists like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Gucci Mane and label them as 'dope' or 'legends'. It sickens me that the content on songs is based on...nothing!

I don't wanna sound like a Stan but Eminem could make a song based on nothing and it'd still sound better than anything any mainstream bitch puts out. *ends Stan rant*

Radio stations are fuckin corny - they talk more than they play music. They're in love with their own voice and they play the same 10 songs (LTWYL included).

The future of Hip Hop looks grim, but I just listened to Hopsin's album so there is hope :y: We need more artists like that to blow up :b:

we got Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa, J. Cole, Curren$y, and T.I. etc. i think hip hop should be fine.

Fans who listen to Eminem, pick up the pen, and instantly think their lyrics are the sh*t and they should be signed because they're "deep" for bitching about their shitty, suburban, middle-class lifestyle in a safe & stable household.

You know who I'm talking about.
