Eminem: Great artist, awful label owner

Postby FreeSpeech » Nov 22nd, '10, 00:04

Honestly, Shady Records is a pretty stagnant label, very little hype aside from Em, obviously. It was looking good when they got 50, but it has leveled off. Even if Slaughterhouse is signed, they are a very niche group. I personally love them for the lyricism, but they aren't the type of group to carry a label. With Em (I predict) one album from retiring (I predict), as well as 50, the label has no young stars to carry it. Cash/Young Money made a huge transformation, they went from a bunch of "deep south hood niggas" to being one of the faces of rap, like him or hate him Drake is one of the biggest dudes out right now, and will be for a long time. GOOD Music is ridiculous, their lineup is practically an all star team. Roc Nation just added J Cole. Shady Records needs to sign an up and coming star. And not Hopsin lol. I know they aren't gonna sign a Drake or J Cole, that's not their style. But they need somebody. Dr Dre screwed up with not getting Bishop Lamont out there, Em doesn't even have a new artist to screw up.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying I'm supporting any of the above artists, I'm just stating facts.

I'm telling you Em needs another Re-Up album out. Em, Slaughterhouse, D12, 50 Cent, Cashis, Slim Da Mobster, etc. It would be crazy for sure. Then Em needs to follow up with the hype and be heavily involved in their projects/mixtapes/albums.

Drake is a fad that will go away in a couple of years. As is Lil Wayne, who wasn't even that popular until C3

Eminem, however...is forever :worship:
Or until he dies lol...

Was going through Wiki pages lol, funny shit.

Royce has recently expressed in interviews that Eminem and himself have ended their feud and have been talking over the phone. Royce has also stated that Bad Meets Evil will be reunited soon.

Bad Meets Evil is making a new album in 2010/2011.

The Black Eyed Peas and Eminem will be making a new song on January 1st called "New Year".

But honestly. Shady records neeeeeeeeds some new collab album, the record label is a joke

That's why I put in the disclaimer, jackass. I don't care if you like him, feel free to listen to all the random underground rappers you want, but if you don't think he is one of the biggest rappers out you are an idiot. Who else is on songs with Em, Kanye, Wayne, Jay Z, TI, J Cole, Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Bun B, just to name a few? If all these people want to work with him, kinda tells ya something, huh?

Eminem and...Black Eyed Peas? Okay, Rihanna is one thing, but this...wtf?
This doesn't sound too promising, but if it's true I'll give it a shot...

YES. It would destroy the 1st re-up, and if they released it as a mixtape they would generate so much hype.

And yeah, WTF Black Eyed Peas? I don't mind them but...really?

Another Re-Up album would be off the freakin' chain. Some Shady Records mixtapes, like the Invasion mixtapes would be sweet as well. :worship:

I agree with the Drake comment, he was pretty big around the beginning of 2010. But...I haven't noticed him since the Grammy awards, to be honest. Even his album was overshadowed by Recovery.

Drake is okay to me. I can tolerate him more than Lil Wayne simply because he has a better voice, IMO. But, his album wasn't all that great, whereas Recovery...was

Owning a record label in this day and age is an awful idea anyway........... The biggest star in the game can only sell triple platinum now, I remember when the 3x platinum guys were the opening act, now if you sell that much your the headliner.

You know how much money Universal probably lost on the drake album??........ All that promotion and it just barely crept to platinum??.........SMH

Hmmm yes the label is a mess right now. They should get albums for each member signed,i think that's what would make the label get on to,not only a re-up mixtape.Offcourse that would mean lots of promotion and new signed artists wouldn't be bad.But i think it should have been just Aftermath and everyone be under it..Dre,Em,50 etc...now it's like everyone made their own label lol.
