My Darling: the only song...

My Darling.. the only song since the 'old' eminem that i can rap along without having to study it. It goes automatically. it is probably the deepest and most personal song in a few years. I know, it is not emotional, but it comes closest to how he felt and the beat... PERFECT! just as original as the kill you beat. and the chain saw was justified. awesome. chorus: perfect too

no accent, no screaming. this song is heavily underrated and playing it does not make me force hearing the good eminem, it is just him. The only song since tes/encore...

the verse with the low-pitched voice doesnt bother me, it is cool that the normal eminem fades in there.

I wish he had re-wrote the 1st verse, and opened Relapse with it. Would of been a perfect opener, him fighting with drugs / demons / Shady / fame (whatever your interpretation is - I think it's purposely ambiguous / meant to be a few things) - Then him spiralling into a Relapse. It could of driven the concept to the album more coherently.

It was obviously an opener for the previous album at some point too - He probably had the same intro for the previous album. Because on "Dr. West" towards the end you even hear him call Em 'darling' and that voice comes in. That sounds like it was preceeding "My Darling" previously.

But the 1st verse is irrelevant and slightly ruins it. It's because he (in his own words) follows the pen, so he often starts off kind of aimless then finds his way the more he writes. But he never seems to go back and fix the first verse lmao.

You can hear it in a lot of his stuff. Other examples are "Mosh" and "You're Never Over". He starts off talking about himself, nothing to do with the aim or context of the song, then finds his way and gets better in the 2nd and 3rd verses.

If he went back and re-wrote the 1st verses to fit the song, they'd be a lot better.

Not even close. The execution / overall sound / final product is a different debate but concept-wise alone "My Darling" is far superior to "Careful What You Wish For".

CWYWF is a standard, personal Eminem track with a little saying at its heart. "My Darling" is him battling demons / his subconscious / etc. live on track, arguing with himself etc.

Concept-wise it's no contest.

I'm not complaining AT ALL. I've never understood why people get so mad about the screaming. haha. As if he is gonna rap in a normal voice the lyrics to "Won't Back Down" or something. It would lose meaning.

I put "My Darling" in place of "We Made You" on Relapse. Not the order like EmBase was talking about that would make sense as a story, but I can't think of Relapse without thinking of "3AM" opening it and "My Darling" fits pretty good after "Same Song and Dance".
