Tupac had more passion and intelligence in his music than any other rapper, although Nas could have definitely gave him a run for his money.

And Big is alright. He had a couple nice tunes and some decent story telling tracks here and there.

Yes but he wasn't more skilled was he?
Nas imo is the most skilled and Biggie next.

Big was the ultimate storyteller. The majority of his songs are stories

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

:worship:
His music was high on emotion that changed in every song sometimes in the same song,to say in other words Tupac never rapped only about the dark parts of life(ONLY) but his later albums had a "feel good" vibe than his first albums depicting the brighter part of life.
Some say Tupac is way over rated but that's just wrong . :y:

No he's overrated as a lyricist point blank period, as a rapper though and emcee he deserves to be mentioned as a top five.

I say 'technical' as, well he's better at rhyme schemes etc. but Nas also can't do what 2Pac could do and there's more to great rap lyricism and great lyricism than just rhyme schemes and one-liners etc. Not that Nas is a one-liner kind of guy, but I don't mean punchlines, I mean ALL one-liners, one-liner poetic points and so on. But, there's so much to being a great lyricist.

And I think the more a lyricist can do, the greater they are. Which is why Em is the greatest of them all, as he can do it all. They can't.

What are you talking about Nas is just as diverse as Em, and so is Biggie, even Jay z

Back to the thread though, as for Biggie - I'm not well-versed enough in his work to give a proper opinion but from what I've heard he's good. PS. It's kind of bizarre he's looked at as this kind of, ultimate truth telling gangsta, the ultimate... Honesty of the genre when in reality he was a fraud himself lmao.

And Eminem isn't? gtfo out of here, so is Nas you could make a case for him.

Anyone who doubts me - Go look into his background PROPERLY. Don't just read Wikipedia - There's videos of his own mother talking about his life. He went to fucking private school and his mother provided a middle-class environment for him. He always had food on the table and clothes etc. and she was like talking about him rapping about growing up in the slums with no food etc. and saying how that was just him rapping about other people's lives.

And on Infinite Eminem did not once mention an abusive mother or any of that bs, (listen to Ok and compare it to his next two albums) and next two albums he puts on this tough white boy image about being abused, fuck out of here.

Doesn't take anything away from him as a lyricist, but it's just wrong that people have this perception of him, when he was actually a fake. He knew those sorts of people but he was rapping their lives, not his.

I try not to let personal lives get in the way of judging a musician, thank you very much.

And, jay doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as 2Pac and Nas. He's always annoyed me, I quite like him as a person but he's by far the most overrated MC i've ever come across. And it's only been recently that EVERYBODY has been sucking his cock. And the justification is always what he's done as a business man...

No reasons, huh and I could easily say the same for Eminem

Reasonable Doubt? Blueprint? Kinda the definition of classics right there...

But nah, you're a "Revolutionary" who only listens to elite hip hop, like Immortal Technique and some guys no one has ever heard of but are soooooo lyrical. I mean, they have no flow and are pretentious idiots, but they're reallllll hip hop man!

WOW!dude, i listen to real Hip-Hop and Jay ain't one of them, what's the big deal? Why are you butthurt?
I listen to D12, Slaughterhouse, Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Tech N9ne, Slim Thug, B.o.B, Bun-B, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, The Game, Young Buck, T.I, Cunninlyingusits, Chamillionaire, DMX, Eazy-E,Flipsyde, Ludacris, Scarface,Xzibit, Saigon, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy, Fabolous, Busta Rhymes, Obie Trice, Immortal Technique & lots more....They are all famous, and BTW everybody knows IT its just that he doesn't wanna be famous, i believe he could push more than 100k on his first week.

You're a fucking idiot and I would flame the shit out of you if this forum wouldn't ban me for that. Let's just say lol at Jay Z not being real hip hop but the bolded are.

This response is getting extremely repetitive. Is this the only comeback these days? "Well, you only listen to elite hip hop, blah blah blah" I mean, what the fuck does that have to do with anything? If he doesn't like Jay, he doesn't like Jay. Jay is one of the most overrated rappers of all time, I like some of his music but the majority of it is pretty stale and boring. Biggie is FAR better than Jay, and Jay's still alive

Funny you think Jay's overrated but support two of the most overrated rappers ever.
