It's stupid and pointless. You don't hear other genre's doing that. You never heard the Beatles making songs about "wack rock groups." Targeted disses are fine, but generic "other rappers suck" tracks are pointless. I like Slaughterhouse, but they talk way too much about how the could devour other rappers. You shouldn't have to say it, it should be apparent from your actual song lyrics.

Actually that's exactly why Hip-Hop is better than every other genre. Dissing and battling is a beautiful thing that other genres don't have.

Battling is the foundation for hip hop. Without it, hip hop wouldn't be what it is today...we'd be jamming out to a 60 year old MC Hammer :laughing:

I said targeted disses are fine, and I love them. Tracks like Ether are classics. But notice Nas wasn't saying "I'm so much better than Jay blablabla" he was taking personal shots. It's the generic verses that are pointless. Your lyrics should speak for themselves. You shouldn't have to say how good you are, people should hear your verses and know. A little bragging is fine, but it's overdone.

And other genres suck? That's just ignorance.
