My father's a comedy writer, he writes for TV and radio.

He taught me how to write for the BBC (Or Tiger Aspect)... Basically, I don't know about America, but, British screen plays 'scripts', are formatted to suit the production company... What I do know about American sitcoms, compared to British is, you have more freedom, in America, you can 'write a joke on the spot', and take multiple takes, with a different joke each time, and keep what works the best 'if you wanted', in the UK, we don't really do that.

The only shows I have watched extensively and have any sort of knowledge about are the obvious ones. The likes of Friends, The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, My Wife And Kids etc

In fact those three are probably the only American sitcoms I have seen every single episode of. So I guess I'm looking for some new sitcoms (well, new to me at least) so I can start watching them.

I'm also not looking for animated shows like The Simpsons / Family Guy etc

Your recommendations will be most welcome...
