The Marshall Mathers LP will have topped 10.3m now and The Eminem Show should be over 9.9m. Relapse will be weeks away from 2.1m. Eminem is within a million copies from 40 million studio album sales & also within a million from 50 million in total sales.

I think worldwide they count all albums by an artist as a whole. They had him at over 80 million albums prior to the releases of Relapse & Recovery. Plus looking around it seems other artists seem to have their compilation albums included in worldwide sales.
