discrimination against the obeese

ok... this is serious

several years ago a magazine (i beleive it was U.S. news.... im not sure tho) did a study with children to see wat their reactions to obeesity were..... the results showed that a child were befriend a child of a physical handicap before befriending the obeese child......

and im just a little curious as to wat would u guys do....

this is just a little social expeiriment......

me to, i dont think i should pick like that, i have a chinese girlfriend, a japanese friend, like 4 mexican friends, and countless black and white friends, all those include obeese and anorexic, it doesnt matter.

yes... thank u, lol.... and its not cocky. thats the case with most people..... we are naturally drawn to those who are most like us... its becus we have more in common with them and wat not.... and thats kinda wat the expeiriment is for.... to see if people would step out of their comfort zone and befriend sumone who was different from them or others..... and wich of the different people they would chose..... and not necisarly befriend... but u know, talk to and stuff..........

but for me it depends, if no one else is talking to that one indavidual il let him/her join me..im just a natural nice person, but otherwise no...pretty good idea for an experement, what mad you think of it??

tanx man and i said in my first post.... u probly didnt catch it, but newhom........ a magazine did a simular study among children, just to see how they reacted to obeisity. and they found that a child would befriend, or except a handicap child rather than an obeese one..... and i just thought it be interesting to see how people in the forum react to different social situations.... u know, to see if i would get the same results.... i just think its a really good expeiriment.... and i was hoping to get a lot of responses and imput....... cus if everyone is honest about it and wat not, then it would be fasinating to see wat the results at the end of the expeiriment would be

i actually don't know. i would probably just talk to them and see how their personality is like and then go from there. race, obesity, or handicap doesn't really matter to me. i have friends of different race and an obease friend so it doesn't really matter it's just the personality that matters to me

The thing I don't get it....why would we befriend anybody in the first place? Like...for example....we're put in that room with other people diferent to us. What are our reasons for befriending someone? Unless they did something wrong..

um... befriend means to becum friends with.... and its not necisarily become friends.... but talk to.... and i think people are seriously over thinking this.... its a simple question.... and its just a senario...... dont take this as like, real life....... ok...... its just if ur put in a simular situation....... wat would u do.... wich of the people would u be drawn to first?......

Obese people need to be encourage to lose weight not to just except themselves the way they are.

Obesety is an illness, they needa take care of it. If descrimination is wen fat people have to buy two plane tickects for two seats because they take twice as much space as a normal person does, then i say this kind of descrimination should be aloud.

To me, I wouldn't talk to an obese peer under certain circumstances. If the peer was built with huge bone tone or muscle tone or was born obese by genetics or what not, I have nothing agaisnt them. However, if they're buying junk food from the vending machines and buying a whole pizza to themself like they do at my school, I feel disgusted in their presence and won't conversate with them.

Yeah, our school gets McDonalds, Papa Johns, Burger King, Chick'fla(sp), Subway, and other fast food restruants to deliver for lunch. You have the cafeteria food in one side of the cafeteria, then delievered on the otherside. Of course, it's more outrageous to eat the food delievered then to go out and by it yourself at the actual restraunt. But there's some pigs at my school, it's disgusting and sometimes I can't eat when I see these people walk in front of me. And my favorite thing, they're shoving down a whole pizza, or a Big Mac, and saying, yeah...I'm trying to lose weight. And then they say they have. I'll actually drop in on their conversation and ask, "You've lost weight?" and I let them reply, "Yes"...and then I'll say, "Where, your toe or you pinky?"...ridiculous.

Theres no such thing a person that is genetically obese. If ur metabolism is so good that u always end up having extra fat, than obvioulsy u dont need more than ur eating.

If a person is fat and cant controll himself, means he is a poorly self motivated and in some cases might be just to lazy to strech a muscle. If your 40 and fat then u have an excuse, but wen i see a 13 year old kid who ways more than me, its kinda weird and i feel sorry for the kid, coz his parents are idiots.
