Is Big L the most overrated rapper ever?

Postby dead prez » Dec 14th, '10, 05:35

Dude's mediocore as hell, his album LOPD is nowhere near classics like Word...Life, illmatic, R2D, OB4CL, The Main Ingredient, Dah Shinin, Infamous etc. He even out shined several member of DITC who were just as good if not better than him OC and Diamond D. When he was a live no one gave a shit about him, but ever since he died he's top ten material? Fuck out of here, only people who put him on top tens are people who think they know shit about Hip Hop by including him at top five. Lol at this dude being anywhere near Biggie or Tupac, hell Nas, Jay Z, Prodigy (in the 90s) are better than this dude. But hey as long as you get shot you'll automatically have a swarm of stans that'll fellate you like no tomorrow.

Exactly he's a punchline rapper, with more charisma than Papoose and Cassidy esque rappers, but really he wasn't anything special and definitely doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Nas, Em, Jay, Pac, Biggie.

Rappers who were better than him during the time period:
Mobb Deep
Smith and Wessun
Jeru Da Damaj
Oc
Diamond D
Most members of Wu Tang
Pun (he's overrated to)
MOP

And these are just from NY.

Who mentions Lil B in the same breath as Biggie and whatnot? You are acting like everyone thinks he's better than the GOATS.

Do you lurk other forums and watch youtube vids claiming this guy is the best lyricist or best rapper? Or how about vids comparing him to Eminem, Biggi, Pac. You know what I'll help you out

(Latter two vids implying Big L is on those rapper's levels)

Sorry, I don't have time to look up information to fuel my hate on an artist.

So being observant and knowing that the dude's legacy is blown out of proportion is hating? You know who coined the term "hater" Puffy, when rappers would say he sucks. You could get away with dismissing someone as a hater when you're a successfull businessman, not when you're some on wigger an Eminem forum. Horrible horrible cop out.

Being observant and trying to tell people an artist they like isn't good isn't gonna result in them changing their opinion, you will just get flamed and get into arguments. So there is no point in making a bunch of threads voicing your distaste for Lil B, you are just wasting your breath. A simple "I don't understand why he is getting the praise he is getting, but whatever" post will suffice next time.

And are you sure you are on the right forum? This is the forum that likes Eminem. Move along, sir.

I like Eminem I just don't suck him off like 90% of the members here.

I'm not saying he's bad I'm just expressing my distaste for him being labeled as one of the "goats" when NO ONE gave a shit about him when he was alive. I think the dude's talented and could have probably went far if he still lived, but so many guys act like he was one of the reigning mc of NY when he was alive when that just isn't the case.

Maybe you weren't in the Eminem section when the new features came out, but all it was was bitching about all he does is scream and that he fell off. Was barely anyone enjoying the new features.

I said he was mediocore not his albums and NONE of his albums are near the ones I posted. You really thinking LOPD is any where near R2D, illmatic, The Main Ingredient is laughable or you're probably just ignorant towards half the albums I posted.
