Wayne...just raps. There's nothing special about him, except that he shot himself with his own gun, showing just how special he really is
He has some dope lines here and there, but overall, the fact remains that he is an average rapper. The majority of real hip hop heads would laugh in your fucking face if you said Wayne was the GOAT and "defined a generation" as well as being "bigger than rap" lol

Good thing you "real hip hop heads" know better than us silly little Wayne fans.

Look, I don't ride Wayne's dick, but I can give credit where it's due. Wayne is the biggest rapper right now, and has been for some time. He has to have something special to do that. It's not like he gets by off his looks, plenty of other rappers had better connections coming up, and he's from the South. He isn't in Blockbuster movies, he doesn't have a reality show, he isn't dating some celebrity. He still has managed to become one of the biggest entertainment stars ever. Like, I never was a huge fan of Elvis, other dudes like Bob Dylan have way better lyrics, but I can give the dude credit.

PS for every Wayne song I have on my iPod, I have dozens of others by Mos Def, Pac, Em, Nas, Rakim, Big, etc. Get off your high horse, acting like a "real hip hop head".

Only reason Wayne is where he is now is because of that fucking Lollipop song.

No you don't have to have something special to be big  People like you are so ignorant. Does Soulja Boy have something special? His album went platinum. Does Gucci Mane and Wacka Flocka Flame have something special? They have mad hype around my city? No, they're garbage. Lil Wayne is garbage and the fact that America loves him doesn't change that because American teenagers are the dumbest they've ever been.

I didn't say I was lol

I was saying, walk up to a hip hop head and say that, and see what happens. If I was a real hip hop head, I probably wouldn't think Eminem is the best, I'd probably go more for the underground

I know hip hop pretty well, but I am, by no means, a hip hop head. Get off YOUR high horse. Wayne hasn't been really popular but for like...about 4 or 5 years or something like that. That's not that long. I'm not denying his success, I'm denying his IMPACT. Wayne has done NOTHING for the rap game except make money off of it

OK then, you go make a record and make a quick mil, if it's so easy. I mean, why doesn't everybody do it? It's easy right? Free money!
I'm not saying Gucci and Wocka are lyrical gods, they suck lyrically. But they can make music that bangs. Every song doesn't have to mean something deep, if it sounds good to someone, it sounds good to someone. I don't listen to either, ever, but I can see the appeal of songs like "Hard in the paint". It's just a banger. The dude could be speaking Swahili for all I care.

Everybody gets butt hurt every time some artist who "sucks" makes it big. Why? It doesn't hurt you. In the end, music is just entertainment. For every "real" rapper who talks about deep stuff, there are hundreds of every day people actually living out the lyrics and making a difference.

Didn't even see your post tough guy...

Wayne went platinum in 99 with his first solo album. He didn't become the monster he is now until like 6/7 years ago, but he's still been around. Not many artists have that staying power. I'm on no high horse, I'm just saying I give credit where it's due. I can name tons of rappers more lyrically skilled than Wayne, but that doesn't mean I have to hate on him. Talking about the "rap game" is pretty pointless, it changes constantly. He has made a significant impact though. Brought in Drake and the biggest female MC since Kim. He started (or at least popularized) the mixtape mania we see today. He is one of a select few Southern rappers to break out of the "Southern rapper" stereotype. He has been featured more than anybody else. He heads one of the most hyped labels out right now. He has definately made an impact, whether a good or bad one is a never ending debate I won't even waste my time with.

LilWayne4Life wrote:Drake is no where close to being "over" he built a incredible fan base on his own INTERNATIONALLY, not just the states. When people mention there top rappers drake is ALREADY mentioned. Wayne not only defines a generation he is the definition of rap in todays world. The young generation is influenced and want to rap like wayne. Like i said his post was full of hate. Why would it matter if it took wayne 13 years to be where he is? how many rapeprs can you name 13 years ago that is still relevant as wayne? you can count them in one hand.

it does matter it took him thirteen years. He was only prominent in the rap game starting in about 2007 with remixes. He has no classic albums or classic songs. He is only a symbol to why hip hop is dead, and its not Wayne. Its our sad generation that doesn't understand who or what makes an artist. A generation that only knows who Ray Charles is when Wayne samples a song by him. Its sad really.

only IMO!

Eminem
Jay-Z
Kanye West

are the artists who are bigger than rap

Em has HUGEEE success he is known by the masses as the best rapper alive and to some and the GOAT.

Jay-Z has the most number 1 albums, sold a lot of records and is defined as one of the greats too,he is bigger than rap,he is also a very successful business man.

kanye is just kanye,a pretentious fucking rap diva that i fuckin love, and made all the haters look like fucking stupid asses, his sound is bigger than rap,his persona is bigger than rap,he is bigger than rap.
The devil ain't on a level same as him!
