Most probably figured the D12 was for 'D12' but wasn't.. Although it works too though, I suppose.

I wanted to form a stage name out of Matty D.
Teacher aids said; "How about Demad"?
I'm like nah Demaz cause the Z looks like a tilted T as a metaphor of my cracked sanity.
So I had word play on my name and a new nickname.
Demaz.
