honestly, nowhere even worth mentioning

in my opinion, Wayne has played a negative role on the rap game's evolution more than anything .. sure he sells records now, but looking ahead ... he will be forgotten

I'm not a fan of him, let alone listen to his music. Not trying to sound like a douche, but he's not on my list...

Top 20, maybe top 10.
For people getting pissy and asking why, here's why:

He is good/great at everything, absolutely amazing at nothing. Like, some guys have great lyrics and trashy flows. Some guys have catchy songs with little content. Some guys have deep content, but their songs are pretty boring. Wayne is good at everything.

-Flow: He has his flow down, I find this pretty indisputable.
-Lyrics: He's clever, face it. Some of his metaphors make me cringe, but he also says awesome lines no one else would think of. The good lines outway the bad ones. All rappers have said wack stuff, people just love to get on Wayne.
-Content: He has great deep songs like Shoot Me Down, Miss My Dawgs, Tie My Hands, etc. He has great stereotypical rap songs like a lot of CII. He has just flat out good songs like Shooter. He has great party songs. Basically, any mood you're in, you can find a Weezy track for it.
-Mixtapes: Who matches his mixtapes? Very few...
-Beats/production: Damn good. Doesn't have much to do with HIM, but it makes his music way better. Every good artist needs good beats and production.
-Prevalence: He's everywhere, he is the go to guy for features. He is constantly giving his fans new content. He's been on so many great albums, from Graduation to Recovery.
-Influence: I'm not going to bothering arguing, but he has huge influence over the rap industry.
-Voice: I can understand how people can find his voice annoying, just like some people think Em's voice is annoying. However, I like it and so do millions of people. He definately has a classic voice. It's unique, non confusable. That's the problem a lot of rappers have, their lines are dope but their voices blend in.

There are hundreds of rappers who can beat him in a single category, but in every category? Very, very few beat Wayne.

I don't agree at all but I have to give you credit because for the first time someone who speaks about Wayne gave arguments.

I mean a lot of times his fanboys consider him even the Greatest ever but I never heard a good argument.

I've been asking him that on and off for forever now...he never answers with anything but sales. If he wanted to go by sales, then Eminem would be his number 1 and not Wayne

As far as Wayne goes in the list...maybe Top 20, I'm gonna see if he can redeem himself with C4 to see if he earns his spot. Otherwise, Top 50

to everyone basing his status on the the all-time list on the high hopes of C-4 ... what is giving people any reason to believe the C-4 will be such a massive album ?

What has Lil Wayne done for us lately ? Post CIII : came very close to destroying hip-hop altogether with his over-usage of auto-tune, gave him self wayyy too much credit and tried putting out a "rock" album that was nothing of the sort, went to jail and returned to the streets with...nothing .. i was kinda expecting a mixtape to drop as soon as he was free from jail, but i guess he couldn't rack his little brains enough in prison to write any dope shit.

Also, his voice has gotten to the point where hearing it say the most ridiculous similes and metaphors can make me cringe. He sounds like a little retarded kid, with a mouthful of food.

I mean, it's not that big a deal for me, I'm not really a Wayne fan (I hate Wayneheads more than anything, because they claim he's the best ever AND HE'S NOT) but I'm a fairly open minded person when it comes to music. I want to try to like everything I download or hear, but sometimes that can't happen with shitty albums like C3 and Rebirth. If C4 is any good, then Wayne will get his props from me. But, he's still not that great, and will never reach the greatness that Eminem reached in his lifetime. I actually like 6'7" to a certain extent, I think some of his lines are fire in that song. But his voice is still :facepalm

He may not be the best in any or all categories (flow, lyrics, delivery etc..) But hes good in every category so that makes up for the lack of "greatness" some may say. Wayne is the only rapper i listen to that i NEVER get tired of hearing, his presence in the booth, on stage, and even in interviews is undeniable and great, that's part of the reason why i got into his music.

His work ethic is unmatched especially if you look at his background, Recorded over 3000 verses and hooks and has over 1750 records and over a thousand unreleased material. Some people may say quality over quality but he release more good music then bad so that term is irrelevant in this sense.

His music is diverse and different from the rest, people may say he sold out by creating pop, rock and other genres of music but if you look at how diverse and different his fanbase is all he is doing is creating music for everyone to enjoy and to maintain his fanbase. I find it funny when people say all wayne talks about is "money, drugs, cars" "he isn't real" in order to be real you have to talk about the struggles and hard times even when that isn't your life? If anything wayne is talking about his life and things surrendering it even if that's money, drugs, cars so that would make him "real"

His lyrics has always been dope, even though every album and or mixtape he does his style changes. The people that doesn't understand or connect in a way with his lyrics automatically label him as "wack" but how can something be wack when you don't understand and comprehend it. He is the best rapper alive in punchlines bottom line, most of his punchlines usually have double entendres but if you don't normally listen to his music you wouldn't understand. He covers all aspects with his lyrics, his content is always good especially with his albums where he vents and talks about deeper stuff in his life. His Multis, internal ryhmes are always on point.

His flow and delivery is good but what makes it great to me is his ability to switch up and create different flows to ride and go with different beats. He has a different style and flow to any beat someone throws at him imo. His delivery is always on point and unique to other artists.

Wayne may have the greatest mixtape list then anyone alive, all of his official mixtapes are labeled as classics or borderline classic to most if not all hip hop critics and reviewers. All his albums are different in terms of style, flow, content and that's why it's hard to compare them but the carter series have always delivered from the street wayne to lyrical wayne to mainstream wayne (c1, c2 ,c3)

There's only a handful of rappers who has been relevant since the '90's and are still able to sell and month after month and have there fanbase increase as well. The idiots that always say it took wayne 12 years to go mainstream or sell alot there only displaying there ignorance, how many rappers can you name have there popularity increase after years? a handful because most become irrelevant by there 2nd or 3rd album.

Wayne is probably the biggest reason and influenced for hip hop's evolution and what it is today. Most young people dress, talk and want to rap like wayne (if not wayne the other reason for hip hop's changed, kanye) When people mention greats they say "hes gonna be the next wayne, jay or eminem" You don't get compared like that because your mainstream. You get that recognition when you become one of the greats.

Sales? His first album at age 15 went double platinum in months. all his album are platinum besides for 3 (two of which is because they have been released this year while he was in jail and had no promotion) but all 3 are still gold and will be platinum in a matter of time. Tha carter 2 is double platinum in the U.S and sold over 2.7 million WW. Carter 3 went platinum in a week and has sold over 3.7 million in the united states as of this week and over 4.5 million WW. from this time last year him and his team (young money) released 5 albums. 1 is platinum (1.3 mill) and the rest are gold with sales of 568k (pink friday, came out 3 weeks ago) 607k (IANAHB) 735k (Rebirth) 678k (We are young money) In a year young money has sold over 3.8 million albums (1 million+ from wayne in prison) In total wayne has sold over 19 million records and over 12 million singles and those number will only increase when C4 comes around.

people wanted my perceptive of wayne, there you got it :smoking:
