Ok good post but listen.
Tupac as every artist would had a decline if he stayed alive.( alive better of caurse than a death).
When he started the Rivalry with Biggie people in New York were with Biggie's side because a former East Coast person (Pac) gone to West to start the Rivalry.
Biggie when they were alive was by far more loved in New York at the Rivalry years. Not even close Pac to this.
Do you remember the streets of NY when Big died?People gone crazy!
I don't deny that Tupac would have declined eventually, but not at his prime man. He was only 25, he released music like crazy, he would have had so much more to give before he started to come down. I still think though Tupac is more missed as an icon than a rapper, because he would have been more than just a rapper, he would have been an politician for the streets.
Of course Biggie was more loved in NY than Pac, because thats where grew, they were the first ones to hear his music, it was impossible for any artist outside of NY to get more love than Biggie. But what I meant was that Tupac was loved as well, like majorly.
I do remember when they died, I was only 8 when Pac died, and I remember his death was a feeling of anger. There's a classic video on youtube where Tupac's death gets announced during the Nas show by Ed Lover, you could just feel the tension in the air. When Biggie died, it was completely different, it was more shock than anger.
As about the age.Eminem was 27 when SSLP released. He started to built his legacy at 27.
Pac was younger and he started his legacy younger.
But this doesn't mean that he has bigger legacy than Eminem or that he would be better at his 31 as a Rapper. His skills nothing impressive in comparison with other greats. He had passion but he hadn't so much talent as a skilled rapper.
Kobe Bryant won his first ring at his 22 and at his 24 had 3 rings.
Michael Jordan won his first ring at his 28.That means that Kobe is Greater? No!
Pac was at his best.He couldn't be better than that imo.
Biggie had the most scary potential and more to give .
Biggie was bigger talent than Pac as a rapper. If you ask me who has bigger legacy then I would say Pac because of his off court impact. But Biggie had the scariest potential in Hip-Hop!
Thats not what I meant homie. I just meant that Tupac was much younger when he died than Eminem was when he released The Eminem Show. Didn't have any quiet subliminal meanings in my post, it was simply just to point out their big age difference.
Both are overrated.Don't get me wrong they are greats and legends but as I said people looked at them different before and after their deaths.
Just look how underrated is Rakim who is still alive and he was the ultimate MC from 87' to 95'.People forget or don't know about him(youngsters). But all they know Pac and Big.Deaths help a lot at this.
I'm not gonna get involved in the overrated talk, because I simply disagree. I think some Eminem fans who see the bullshit he's often put through but some of the hip hop public a bit too easily point fingers back, but often it's at the wrong people. That's why I think some Eminem fans undeservedly go at the likes of Tupac and Biggie. It's wrong on both sides. That's just my opinion.
I'm a huge fan of Eminem just as I am of Biggie, just as I am of Tupac. But the slight difference for me is that Tupac was more than just a musician for me, he was like a leader. But that in no way affects my rating of him as a rapper, better or worse.
