Better than MMLP? (Personally i don't even consider MMLP the best hip hop album, just testin you)

Better than Deltron, Word...Life, Stunts blunts and Hip Hop, Dr. Octagonecoglyst, Game Theory, OB4CL, Sun Rises in the east? (Before you say yes, you have to have listened to all the albums I listed first)

Bro, to be honest I've only really listened to Game Theory and OB4CL but you're naming artists like Diamond D, O.C, Jeru The Damaja, Kool Kieth? They're not even held in high esteem among music of their time. There are so many albums of today's advanced lyricism and better beats that those albums can't even hold a candle too. Yeah they're good for their time but lets be real.

What's your point so what if they're old? And yes you'll never see them in a top 10 hip hop albums list in a magazine alongside R2D, illmatic, The Chronic etc. But I do really hold them in high regard, there are tons of great albums where you have to dig in the crates to find, as far as lyricism goes that's only one aspect of rap and I do consider their flow to be on point. I do however consider Word...Life to be excellent lyrically.

Because lyricism is the most important part of Hip-Hop. It's what Hip-Hop is based off of. I've been youtubing tracks from Deltron 3030 and it just can't hold itself up against Hip-Hop nowadays. Where we have much more complex rhyme schemes, 100x better punchlines, way more listenable beats and even IMO way better flows. They all used that slow simple flow and that's so easy to do. There are many rappers now that use more complex flows that are much harder to do.

I listened to Word...Life recently, it was really good but DIC imo is better. The only albums you listed that I haven't listened to are Dr. Octagonecoglyst, Stunts Blunts & The Sun Rises in the East.

I highly doubt they're gonna be better than Death Is Certain. And yes DIC > MMLP but by very, very, very little.

No lyricism flow and delivery are all equal not one should have any precedence over the other, otherwise every rapper would sound like Canibus.

As for rhyme schemes are you saying every one should sound like Pun, Prodigy in the 90s barely used multies and all that other technical shit but was a dominant emcee in the 90s, so was Biggie and Pac even.

Punchlines is for mixtape rappers akin to Big L, Papoose, Lloyd Banks, etc etc. Yeah it's great but when should that have precedence over story telling and being able to paint a picture.

I actually liked the beats so really, if you liked the beats illmatic you should have no trouble listening to Word...Life and stunts blunts and hip hop

As for Deltron I actually think he was on point lyrically, if I had to compare he'd probably be similar to Eminem on SSLP (rhyme scheme wise, granted he does reach for rhymes) and how could you not like the beats on Deltron?

Canibus is no where near the best lyricist, I'm talking about real lyricism lol.

Yes, everyone should sound like Pun. When you can use huge amounts of multis but not sacrifice any lyrics at all then yes, you are better than people like Prodigy, Biggie and Pac who said the same things but with basically no multis.

Example:

Punchlines are just one part of lyricism. But when you're going for lyrical songs they are very important. So while Del the Funkee Homosapien was spitting

"its all heat in this day and age,
i rage your grave,
anything it takes to save the day
nueromancer, perfect blend of technology and magic
use my rappin so you all could see the hazards"

Copy was rapping

"I write most poems still, hittin fire that light's most home grills
Gettin higher than mike jones phone bill
Who? The drop out slash business man who won't quit this plan
Till my cell phones got more rings than slick ricks hand
Six minutes Copywrite you're on
The white lebron james when the mic is on"

Also, who said people nowadays can't tell stories? That's obviously false, they tell much more entertaining stories than before

Yep, Aceyalone is.

Pun was too robotic with his multies, and he excelled in lyrics but failed at breath control. You also used Diabolic... And the reason they excelled wasn't cause of multies more like their delivery and charisma made their lines sound hotter ten fold.

Like how in Self Conscience Prodigy uses the lines
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQJP0NsR5sk

1:00-1:08

Yeah it's not that great on paper, but his delivery made it sound a lot better than if say Diabolic said the same line, need more examples?

Here's some real shit that isn't some gimmicky shock story

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mBilft7RiE
http://rapgenius.com/lyrics/The-notorious-b-i-g/Niggas-bleed

It won't link so just search N.i.g.g.a.s. bleed

(read the break down and tell me Biggie isn't lyrical, I.T. is not at that level)

Regrets

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3ifsQOFiPw
http://rapgenius.com/lyrics/Jay-z/Regrets

Temperature's Rising

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdF8wEfP6MQ

That self conscience track is also a story with Prodigy rapping with two different personas similar to Gimme the loot.

All those tracks you posted had horrible voices and delivery which breaks the immersion.

Almost forgot GFK

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaKdTsEdAaY

His emotion and delivery makes the whole story and makes it almost seem like a conversation, and puts you right in there. Find me any new rapper with storytelling skills like ghostface, hell his verse on gihad was amazing.
I'm just saying with better technology we obviously have better beats. What from the 90's came close to what Stoupe has made?

Never heard of him.

I was just referring to his use of multi's. I wasn't saying be exactly like Pun. And how are you going to say they had better delivery and charisma? Everyone had the same boring, monotone voice. Diabolic, Copywrite, Bekay or whoever else I posted has 10x more emotion in there voice. Yeah and maybe Prodigy would sound better than Diabolic ifthey said the same line but guess what? They didn't say the same line. Diabolic's lines are so much more advanced than Prodigy's it isn't even close.

What has Prodigy said that can compare to something like...

"Store my rhymes cryogenically, for an entire century,
And even science then’ll be baffled by the chemistry
The rapid rise in energies, analyzed forensically,
To fathom why this natural high is trapped inside your memory"

And you really can't see why Copies lyrics were better than Del's? Maybe you're so used to the basic rap of the 90's you fail to grasp the complexity of underground rap nowadays

Montonous yes, boring no. Diabolic sounds like some try hard on the mic.

Did you skip the Ghostface track?

Which is why they excel at different points. Yeah he has better lyrics, but delivery wise he'll never see Prodigy.

Oh great a rapper used big words, he's automatically lyrical.

Oh and here

Yo, the heavy metal king hold big shit, with spare clips
You seein clips when the mac spit your top got split
Layin dead with open eyes close his eyelids
Turn off his lights switch to darkness, cause deep in the abyss
is street life, blood on my kicks, shit on my knife
Youse the wild child, kid cold turnin men into mice
I was born to take power leave my mark on this planet
The Phantom of Crime Rap, niggaz is left stranded
Shut down your operation, closed for business
Leave a foul taste in your mouth, like Guinness

The seein clips should be eclipse, and I like the constant theme of darkness.
And you really can't see why Copies lyrics were better than Del's? Maybe you're so used to the basic rap of the 90's you fail to grasp the complexity of underground rap nowadays

Or maybe I'm just not impressed by nerdcore new school underground rappers, who use big words to sound like a pseudo intellect. And Deltron 3030 came out in 2000, btw...

I'm not listening to any songs cause I'm working on something else, as you can tell by the effort in my last post lol.

But how Diabolic sounds like a try hard on the mic I will never understand. He has one of the most rugged deliveries I've ever heard. I love it.

I've listened to Ghostface before.

The fact that he's using big words doesn't make him lyrical, the fact that he's saying amazing things while keeping up amazing multis. I'm starting to think you're another One Mic who will hate on anything that sounds smart because you're too dumb to comprehend it.

That prodigy verse is garbage.

And this last statement is where I disregard your opinion. "Or maybe I'm just not impressed by nerdcore new school underground rappers, who use big words to sound like a pseudo intellect."

Get the fuck out of here. Now you're apart of the people I was talking about earlier who talk about rap and think they know what they're talking about but it's just all talk.

"Let's disregard anything that sounds smart because they're trying to sound like a nerd!"

Did you ever think that smarter=better. Smarter, more intelligent lyrics=better lyrics. But it's okay, you can keep listening to your dumb music. It's probably all you're able to understand.

Concession accepted faggot, and considering I listen to Canibus and Aceyalone who are ten times the lyricist Diabolic will ever be your opinion is void, and lol at that prodigy verse being garbage. That verse is better than Diabolic's entire carerr.
