Hopsin on chat with fans

Postby shadyboymez » Dec 27th, '10, 19:27

I don't know if any of you guys follow Hop, but have any of ya'll been able to catch him on tinychat.com ? He went on last night, said he had 40 mins to kill and stayed about 4 hours til i passed out. It was Hopsin and about 30 fans, either white boys or white girls lol. But i swear this guy is the most down to earth dude in the game. I could never see anyone else doing this for his fans. He straight up takes questions and answers them, in real time, and talks about basically anything.

Some shit went down last night. A kid in the UK was playing his music and Hopsin could hear it through his cam, and turns out the guy was playing a leaked track by Hopsin that NOBODY has. Hop was pissed! Not as much at the kid who played it , but at whoever leaked the song originally. The kid claimed he was the only one to have it, and it was hard for anyone else to hear the quality or lyrics or anything...but fuck was Hopsin pissed. It was weird to see the true reaction of an up and coming artist when he learned that a song was leaked. He's like "man, why you gotta do that shit to me?" "i was still planning on using that shit!" it was pretty entertaining to say the least. Entertaining enough for me to put sleep off from 2am to 630 am, and i dont even know how long he ended up stayin on.

Good shit, i got mad respect for this guy.

Because no one knows who the fuck he is (in the grand scheme of things). It's called building up your hype, connecting with fans, keeping your name out there, etc. If he managed to turn into a multi-millionaire, platinum selling rapper who is known throughout the world and is a popular artist, he won't do this shit.

These days, up and coming artists have to be hot on the internet, or they are not hot. Just the way it is, and this was most likely a contribution to that.

I love it when artists do stuff like that. Every couple of months Cole does a Ustream where he answers questions from fans.

Joe Budden started that shit, connecting with his fans. And he still does it...

Everytime Hop says he'll be on for just a second, it ends up being hours haha. I haven't seen the last few b/c he gets on so late. :(

Yeah i guess i didn't realize that he isn't that big yet, it was a real surprise to be able to chat with him and only between 30 - 40 other ppl. He said he only had 40 mins, but then he stayed on and for a good 4 hours and then i went to bed bc i had to work in an hour lol. it was through facebook, i "like" him or whatever, and he posted taht he was goin on this chat and i happened to check my fb at that time. went on, and there he was.

Am I the only one who think he is overrated? His rhymes, flows and enunciation are great but lyrically he is so limited. When you've heard one of his songs it's like you've heard them all.

I don't get this "same subject matter" problem with Hops.

The only similar songs on RAW are: Sag My Pants/Blood Energy Potion/Hot 16's. They have no true subject matter and are crazy & zany type of songs. The rest are different.

that's how i looked at it originally, but i listened to both his albums and i think there is real potential there. songs like Nocturnal Rainbows, Chris Dolmeth, Don't Trust Em, I'm Not Introducing You, Heather Nicole, Gazing at The Moonlight, Sexy Cyber show a serious introspective side, while Baby Daddy , Slurpin, Trampoline, Bubblies, are straight comedic songs that assert Hopsin as a true entertainer on the mic (to me anyway). The rest of his songs aren't bad either. I feel like if he gets noticed by more people, he has what it takes to put together something great.. all he needs is the right people backing him.

It was really cool to have such a personal experience with the guy though. At one point, gave away his cell phone number .. i thought no way is he giving his real number, thinking he was just messin with us. But no, his phone rings, and there is this kid on another cam having a fucking conversation with Hopsin. I copied his number and sent it a text and 2 seconds later i saw him get my text and it was like he didn't think anyone would text him...he's like "daaamn i forgot my phone could receive texts!" lol. He didn't respond to any texts sayin that he only texts his family , but took about 8 -10 phone calls (i didn't call). He said he only gave his cell away because he was gettin a new number soon, but i couldn't believe he did that shit. Its in my phone just as "Hopsin" and i haven't even tried calling him or texting today, but it's pretty crazy to me.
