It should be "failed"...since it already happened. And it's not happening as we speak. And I believe they intended it to be like that. He does it on purpose.

Oh you didn't get it. I don't mean the word "syllables" but for example how Jay failed to work a good enunciation of INTERNET into the rhyme scheme. If he had pronounced it right it would have fit but he didn't sp it don't fit and sounds out of line. Btw people usually mark words they wanna stress like: SYLLABLES or "syllables" because that indicates that this word is meant in particular. Like I did with INTERNET. Get it now?
