Anyways, I honestly like Cocaine better as a song, it would probably sound alot better mastered and with a 3rd verse. The hook would probably be louder in the final product too.
As a single though, Not Afraid portrayed the perfect image for himself that Eminem was trying to go for with 'Recovery': "Went away for a while, I fucked up, now I'm back and that's not happening again" and the fact that it's far more relatable gives it a huge advantage in re-playability, even on the Radio.
Cocaine might have been a good 2nd-3rd single, if Love The Way You Lie wasn't a walking time bomb of success. That's why recovery was near perfect for what it was trying to be. Not Afraid, Love The Way You Lie, No Love, and hopefully Space Bound are have the perfect features/are written on-point for mainstream success.

This
I'm surprised by most of the responses, because there was a lot of hate on Not Afraid when it first came out. While I agree that Not Afraid was the best choice he could have chosen, Cocaine is a way better song. Has better lines, a better beat, and IMO it's awesome

I have to disagree that Cocaine is a way better song. I like Not Afraid better as a song. Maybe it's just because Cocaine wasn't finished/mastered, but I still think Not Afraid is better.
