'X Factor' Alum Cher Lloyd Signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation

Jigga reportedly signed Cher Lloyd to Roc Nation after winning a bidding war with Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am.

Cher Lloyd might not be the 2010 winner of "The X Factor", but she took one step ahead of her fellow "X Factor" friends by landing a record deal in the U.S. with rap mogul Jay-Z. "Even though Cher didn't do terrifically well in the X Factor finals, there's been a hell of a lot of interest in her," a source said.

Before sealing the deal with Roc Nation, Cher reportedly was in the middle of bidding war between will.i.am and Jigga. "All the labels are on the lookout for sassy, young female artists with bags of attitude, and Cher fits that bill perfectly," the source gushed. "will.i.am's backing only intensified the battle to get her signature."

Actually, Cher has caught Jigga's attention before will.i.am set his eyes on the girl. Early this month, Jigga's partner Tinchy Stryder testified, "Cher is a real target for Jay-Z because she's proved she can sing really well, rap - and she's got great stage presence."

The insider went on, "After weighing up the pros and cons, it was thought that the team at Roc Nation would be best placed to turn her dreams of stardom into a reality." Now the singer who finished at the fourth place on the "X Factor" is sharing home with young rising star Willow Smith.

Although Cher and will.i.am did not end up in the same label, that doesn't stop them to make a duet. Previously joining forces on the live stage of the TV show, Cher and the Black Eyed Peas star have entered studio for a duet track. "Cher loyd (sic) and I went in the studio and made a mega smasher... Hey cher, when should we release the song we recorded in london???...(Its a smasher)," he tweeted.

If you think Jay Z is overrated then i feel sorry for your music taste.. If you don't like his music, fine.. But don't discredit someone with a legacy, influence and discography that face rapes most of the artists on your iPod.

No need to feel sorry for me my man; my ears are better off without Jay-Z and his Hip Pop music. If you want me to give him credit, here's some...

I can't believe you've conned so many people into thinking you're dope, well done!

All he sees in Cher Lloyd is potential money, unless he really is dumb enough to think a 17 year old gypsy chav is a credible artist. Then again, if his lyrical talent is an indicator of his intellect and brain power, he probably does!

I also don't have an iPod :coffee:

He loves making money.. What's your point?

Is that supposed to be a bad thing these days. At least he's obvious about it, he's a hustler, however famous he gets.

The music business hate me
Cause the industry ain't make me
Hustlers and boosters embrace me
And the music i be makin
I dump down for my audience
And double my dollars
They criticize me for it
Yet they all yell "Holla"

If you've ever had the privilege of seeing him live like me, he does the most mind blowing political accapellas.. It's crazy. So just because he enjoys success and money, doesn't mean he's by anyway wack.

*bumps the black album*

Further proof Jay-Z doesn't give a crap about anything other than being a billionaire.

Sad to see. Watch how she gets a release and promotion before J.Cole who's been waiting and waiting.

At least for Cher, as average as she is she has a chance at being successful with Jay. Rappers not so, there's not a single rapper that Jay's put on that's been successful, Beanie and Kanye were Dame's boys, and unlike Beanie, Kanye (expectantly) took the greener pastures rather than staying loyal.

To be fair to Jay, J.Cole has NO buzz. Not saying he's not one of the main guys of the next generation, but no ones talking about him. I think Jay is waiting and thinking of a way to market him.

If J.Cole doesn't have buzz, what do you think about Jay Electronica? Dude has no marketing appeal.

That's sort of my point. Jay-Z is signing these guys in hope that they turn out great, he's not really aiding them at all, he's signing them so it helps his legacy in case they blow up.

Fwiw. J.Cole's first single landed inside the top 20 of the rap billboard charts, that should have been the time to unleash him because trust me, J.Cole's music is J.Cole's....he's not gonna suddenly come out with a big radio hit, it's not in him. If you believe in him, unleash him. If you don't, say so and stop wasting time, because I know a certain whiteboy who's obsessed with lyrical rappers and who if his head was clean around the time J.Cole was looking for deals, he would have snapped him up in a second and given him all his faith who would be more than happy to sign him now.

Yeah i know he's not the type to grab a real hit, he is what he is. I don't know, it may sound crazy, but i think he's lost most of his buzz since he's been on a label. Like with Drake, the original buzz about him was what he was doing despite not being signed, and then the race to actually sign him. J.Cole has that same buzz, but just kind of settled on Jays label rather than living off the fact that he's still 'the same successful dude'.

As far as Jay Elec.. What the fuck happened there?! lmao

To anybody from Britain this is hilarious and absurd.

Jay=Z has been trying to nab the next big thing to come out of X-Factor for a while, constantly saying every other contestant is a 'big star' lmao. To make $$$ from them, Rihanna-repeat is what he wants.

But because he's not from Britain and can't see her the way British people see her, he has a distorted perception of her. But... like I say, to any British people in here, you'll know what I mean...

Fact that a 17 year old dumb chav whore got signed by Jay-Z is RIDICULOUS. Jay really is an idiot for this move - I don't doubt he can probably mould her into some shit and lump her with Rihanna to make a few dollars but still...
