Rhyme Asylum

What was it like the first time you heard them. I remember Coleon and Steven tellin me they were the best ever. First song I heard was Poison Pensmanship, Arguably one of their best songs. The first dope line I heard (first bar into the song lol) was "I live in a glasshouse throwin meteorite" I think I came a little right there. I know Possessed and Rein from Jumpoff world rap champoinships in 07 (I was a big Illmac/The saurus fan) And I realized that was possessed rappin. Since then I have basically memorized everything they've ever done. I honestly couldnt look you in the eye and tell you they have a song that isnt dope. They have wordplay/multis/metas/flow/imagery/punches I mean everything. Their accents are terrible either as in I can understand them which I know alot of people criticise. Since then I have listened to more UK guys like Lowkey. Possessed is in my top 3 rappers with only two albums out. I am anxouisly waiting for anything new. So wat was it like the first time you heard them. If you havent then right now go listen to them on youtube. PS WORDS MYTH HASNT LISTENED TO THEM OR PRINCE EA :o

It honestly took me like 5 plays of the album to finally comprehened what they were saying cause it took me a long time to get used to the accent. But now I love them, Poison Penmanship is the greatest lyrical song of all time no doubt and Possesed moves around my top 10. He's probably the best all around lyricist in Hip-Hop.

I've only heard Solitary Confinement, amazing album, but god motherfucking damn at how good this song is. I just got State Of Lunacy, I don't know why, when all I've listened to for the past hour is this song. This is easily the best song I've heard this year. The flow, just omfg. I finally agree with Steven, Possessed is a one man army.

Some of their songs are just songs full of insane punchlines one after the other (Poison Penmanship bein one of the best examples), they are the first rappers to actually make me amazed by their lyrics in a long time.

I'm from England, and I've tried hard to "get into" them but I just can't.

While I recognise their lyrical skills and talent on the mic, it's just not for me. They don't make music that I can personally listen to for a long period of time. I do like one of their songs though, the one where it goes "this is hate music, punch you in the face music" or something like that.

They have talent though, for sure.

I found them through them having songs with Copywrite and Diabolic. State Of Lunacy is one of the most perfect albums of the past decade. Even the song they made about weed was artistic and lyrically strong. Possessed was a one man army on that album. Solitary Confinement wasn't as good imo, I though the production didn't suit them as much but Psiklone and Skirmish stepped up. I'm really looking forward to a solo project from Possessed.

To stay on topic, first song I heard was Attitude Problem and Diabolic has the first verse so I was like "damn that was awesome" then I hear Possessed do the line "carve the date of my death in the tree of life, Jesus Christ, if I get cold feet I'll walk on water till I turn the seas to a sheet of ice". I was in a permanent state of :o for the following 10 replays. I put that line in my signature at the hip-hop forum I was frequenting.
